I made a password for my Internet and now I've got problem

The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your

Now I've gotta update my drive or something?

How do I keep a password on Internet and how do It without having to buy anything? Or do I have to change the password? Can someone either make me a guide or link me one? Please an thanks to all!

I'm unsure of what your problem is.

If you need to update your router firmware but forgot the password, just hold the reset button on your router for 10 seconds.

If you have forgotten your network password, just login to your router and reset it.

You don't need to buy anything.

 

By what he said he has forgotten his wep key, simply, just ring up your internet provider and say I've forgotten my wep key.

no no no. sorry for the confusion. i know my password. its when i try to use it on my old computer, one that is not hooked up directly to my router. it gives me

i have a wpa/wpa2 type of password on my router. when i go to connect from my old computer (not the one connected to the router, but an entirely separate unit) it tells me the quote above. the computer not connected used to be able to connect to the internet but ever since i put the password on its been giving me this response.


if i were to change the settings on my router to wep would this help? and how do i type in the password to that from another computer?

Well if I understand your situation I think you might have the wrong password.

If the stuff Xeleration said didn't help ring up your internet provider. They usually know all the problems and how to fix them.

 

Your old computer's wireless chip might not support WPA/WPA2 encryption. You will have to use WEP. Which I believe is either 64 or 128 hexadecimal characters.

Go into your router. Under wireless setup change your security type to WEP and it will prompt you to enter in a new WEP Key.

 

I suggest going to the address bar, put in your router IP then it will take you to your router page. There you can configure your security settings to what fits best for you.

Your router should have a input field where you can type a word and it will generate the 64 or 128 hexadecimal characters for you.

 

So I just type in one of those fields in when I go to get on the internet from my other computer? One per field or can I just use the same one for all my computers?

 

You can use the same one for all your computers.

 

It goes to work but when it trys connecting to the network it says it's waiting for network and after a few minutes it just stops and that mini window closes and nothing happens

 

Nothing happens as in no connection is established? Is there some sort of error message? Have you attempted to connect to your router without a network password?

Make sure you change your network settings on the computer so the security type matches with your router.

 

I dosent say anything until I try to repair It. Then it tells me windows could not finish repairing because the following action cannot be completed. Connecting to the wireless network. Then it says for assisstanxe contact the person who manages your network.
