I just dropped my iPod Touch in a bucket of water..

I have to put my foot in a bucket of warm water every night and I was on it, and it fell in the fucking bucket..

It won't even turn on now and it's just a black screen. I read some shit on Google and it said to put it in rice, but that just sounds stupid, so I need some more suggestions on what to do. Can someone help me?

    Lol..nice one.

Rice would probably work, you could always try the oven though apparently that works for phones (Id just treat this as a phone). If rice doesnt work just take it apart and let it dry, if it doesnt work after that call apple and say it just randomly happened, maybe you have a warranty.

Does a warranty come with the iPod after you've bought it?

Yes I believe it does. I had to purchase my warranty, it was a better warranty than the standard so I would suppose it does. Contact your retailer that you purchased from.

Leave it in a bag of rice so the rice can soak up the water.

Or put it in a oven for a couple of minutes not to hot to melt the metal.

Also why do you soak your feet in water

Okay, put it in a bag of rice. And I soak my right foot because I got plantar fasciitis in it. It relieves a little bit of the inflammation that goes on it.

It's gone baby trust me and Apple won't take it back because this happened to a friend of mine, they just check with a torch the earphone jack and can tell it's had water damage.

As for the rice, it depends how long you have left it now, if you haven't yet so then good bye iPod. Should attempt it within 5 minutes before it dry's.

EDIT: kid above is a dumb ass don't go opening up your iPhone/iPod he probably hasn't even see one.

How do I take the battery out without breaking the iPod in half..?

Dammit.. I dried my iPod with a paper towel and I could see my screen, very dimly. But then it just went to a black screen, almost like it was shut off. It took me 10 minutes or so to find something on Google and it gave me the info about putting it in rice. So I guess I was too late right?

I've had a cell phone go thru the wash before. Just comes up as a black screen. I let it sit out for a long time, and eventually it worked again. All you can hope for is that your electronic device dries out over time. Theres nothing else you can really do to it.

It probably shorted out. I don't think putting it in rice will make any difference.

If you've had it under a year, it's still under warranty with Apple. Most warranty requests can be submitted online, just tell them that your iPod isn't turning on and go from there. Make sure most of the moisture is out before sending it in and they should send you a replacement.

Note to self: DON'T BUY IPOD TOUCH FROM HAHANERD45!

Anyway, I would leave it to dry out for a while, and then hopefully it will work. Also, you might be able to get hold of some Anhydrous Calcium Chloride, which is a drying agent. Stick it in that for a bit, and hopefully it will dry it out faster. (GOOGLE THAT FIRST. DO NOT DO IT IF YOU THINK IT MAY BE BAD FOR THE IPOD. I HAVE NO CLUE IF IT WILL HELP OR SCREW IT UP. I AM MERELY USING WHAT I LEARNT IN SCIENCE LESSONS AT SCHOOL. YOU USE MY ADVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR IPOD DIES BECAUSE OF WHAT I TELL YOU TO DO.) You could also try sending it away to Apple to get a replacement.

iPods aren't like phones, as for water damage they have ph paper all over the inside and it's a easy change in colour for them to realise that it's water damage.

As for the electronics inside, you mentioned you actually witnessed it black out rendering the electronics components inside completely destroyed.

Yes, a lot of phones have that too.

I dropped a $600 phone in water once. What I did was say it was stolen / lost at a park.

Check your warranty information. They either might allow water damage or not allow stolen / lost replacements.

    Check for loopholes, etc
