I wish people didn't try to get involved in things on the other side of the world which they know nothing about.

For starters, even if British were removed, you'd have the entire unionist/loyalist population in Northern Ireland (or Ulster if we're talking a reunited Republic) up in flames. There would be no peace.

Peace was already made to the best of a compromise's ability in the agreement made forming Northern Ireland. It was signed by the Irish, and was not forced - it was even initiated by the British who wished to withdraw from the conflicts after finding themselves destitute as a result of World War.
