i have jdk 6 update 4 and when i try to run the server it says i need jdk 5.0 or jdk 6.0

wtf????

You need to change the compiler to the correct java...

right click
hit edit
find the java's on there
change it to the correct update
save
Compile
Wala.... U happy?

A little more detail on Blood's post:

When you're editting compile.bat, the path must lead to your JDK bin file.

javac *.java is default, witch must be changed.

I believe for your JDK, it's C:/Program Files/Java/1.6.0_04/bin/javac *.java
At least something like that
