How to avoid being scammed - Healthy tip

1. When trading with someone who you suspect is fishy, type their Skype ID in google with the word "scammer" next to it, and see what pops up. I have prevented being scammed many times using this method. Many scammers hop across online marketplaces with the same ID/usernames. If they were banned on another forum do not trade with them -- or have scam reports do not trade with them.
   
   
2. Check to see how many Skype contacts they have by right clicking their name > View profile. Most scammers don't take the time to edit their Skype settings therefore if you're talking to someone with 1 Skype contact and are about to make a big trade.. think twice.
   
   
3. Look for fishy Paypal names. If someone is sending you a large sum of money with an unverified PayPal with a fake last name such as "rainbowshf" be careful. If you're having second thoughts at this stage just refund them and cease communication.

As a matter of fact, I think I found the person (rat) who reports RWT'ers to Ikov staff by doing this. Not a definitive answer, but definitely leads me to believe it is them.

 

another thing you can do is leave skype in multiple locations so you can't be resolved easily.

Great tips! Definitely didn't know about the first one regarding skype ids.

 

first tip like you said has helped me a few times too. Whenever trading, ill do a quick google of the persons sythe name and skype name and see if anything comes up. if a few people have posted here saying they scammed without sufficient proof, it more or less means they've did so to folks who are new to the site/trading.

 

I personally do the same as what OP suggested.
