Hell yeah, I'm all for anything that will give us a better understanding of anything.

I think they would take the necessary precautions to make sure they don't escape and wreak havoc throughout japan. You meant like resurrect Godzilla right?

Lol, not godzilla I was thinking more like Philosal raptors, (spelling) They were probably the smartest reptiles to walk the Earth, and I mean, you never know, if they made a couple, two get lose, they mate, you've got 20 eggs. They hatch, I mean shit could happen really fast when you mess with breeding

    Velociraptor.

And I understand what you're saying, but I don't think they would make a male and female on their first try. They would probably start with the female, then grow the male from her, IF THEY HAVE THE DNA, which they can't get from fossils as stated in your article. I guarantee they would not make it easy for them to escape, if possible at all. And even then, all they'd have to do is shoot it?

    Mammoth coming back to life?

When I read this there's one thing that goes through my mind:
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...

    T-rex pony rides!

But naw in all seriousness they probably shouldn't mess to much in this matter, mammoths died out for a reason, one because they obviously can't live in the same world as human's and also what need do we have for a furry elephant? (Question serious, wording wasn't). But if it helps with studies on older life then go for it why not.

It's all about learning and gaining first hand knowledge on these creatures that cannot be acquired through skeleton and fossil records.

ahaha, wow I was actually thinking the same thing..

If they died out I don't think they can survive in the world now.

I gotta say the technology we have now is amazing. It sounds a nice idea/novelty to clone something extinct like the mammoth but to me it seems really pointless.

    Mammoth coming back to life?

Certain animals i can understand that reasoning, but I see very little need for the mammoth since it can't give us much more knowledge than what we've already gained. Yes, there would be a small amount, maybe even the cure to aids (obviously a joke but eh the possibility could arise one day) but the resources to take on the small chance seem wasted.

I hope this isn't a remake of Jurassic Park lol.

But it would be cool to have this animal around.

And the Japanese finally decided to do it.

Wonder if it will be successful.

This is genius. Given the size mammoths were, we would create a new food supply! Although, I think modern day temperatures will be unsuitable for their body type.

The chances of this even being possible are very slim. It would be very intriguing for something like this to happen. I wouldn't expect it though.:'(
