I got scammed, what should I do now?

So I was buying gift cards on this forum and someone told me they would sell me a 100 dollar ebay gift card. I paid via friends and family and he gave me fake codes that did not work. I have proof of the whole chat, and I got him banned on sythe. I went to try and get my money back by disputing as unauthorized claim bc that is the only way to dispute if you pay by friends and family. I lost that dispute bc I guess they checked my IP address when I paid.

What should I do to get my 65 dollars back? Should I call PayPal or my bank or what? I know paying via friends and family for goods/services is prohibited on PayPal after reading more about it. But this kid stole hard earned money from me :/.

What is the quickest and easiest way to get my money back if possible?

Sounds like you lost your money man, that sucks, hopefully you've taken away some knowledge from this experience.

 

Definitely call up Paypal and explain the situation, possibly saying that the scammer tricked you out of paying with "goods and services" because he knew he was trying to rip you off.

If all else fails, call up your bank or CC linked to your paypal account (assuming you didn't pay with $$ already in paypal) and get them to put a hold on the payment.

 

Same thing happened to me with 2 steam games. The games were bought with a fake credit card so they all got refunded of my inventory. I called paypal and asked them but they said they couldn't help me at all.

 

Your money is gone. I doubt you'll be able to recover it or get a refund. Best thing you can do is move on and learn from this mistake.
