Serious gambling addiction

Hey, I need help with my gambling addiction. I have too bad urge to gamble no matter what I try to do I just keep gambling all my money and I absolutely hate it..

I can stay away from gambling for weeks but then when I'm having a bad day I simply don't seem to be able to control it.

I need something that can block gambling from my pc and mobile permanently, any advice for such software? I would buy such software but unfortunately I have gambled all my money and wonder if there is free versions of such softwares?

I have been closing all online casinos I have gambled by email on for longest periods possible but there are just too many of them and emailing takes ages.. :/

This is slowly taking away all my happiness in life and im feeling very depressed. I'm young but have already lost 30k + euros on gambling.

 

So far I found an add ons for mozilla called block site and leechblock for blocking some sites. Also installed TxNoGam trial for 4 weeks but I'm still worried that these won't stop me from playing. I need something that can't be deleted from computer.

 

Blocking gambling as a whole isn't exactly possible. But for specific sites it can be done, there are Chrome extensions like Citrus but you can just disable them.
I would recommend trying to find another hobby and try just using self control to stay away from it, it'll be really hard at first but if you put every effort into staying away from temptation then hopefully you can manage it. Think of gambling as a drug, and you're quitting that drug.

 

If you want to gamble, you'll find a way. You should seek help because it is a serious addiction which needs to be taken care of.

@I Buy Pins I Ignore A Broken man and try to contact your internet provider, they can block websites so tell them about your situation (you don't have to tell them) and im sure they would help you out by blocking any websites that involve gambling. would also recommend blocking runescape and cs go gambling websites since you are able to lose a lot there as well. If you need anymore information or help i dont know much but il be happy to help and talk about it over PMs.

You can make someone else set up Windows Parental Control on your computer, might block porn too tho

 

Honestly just try and think of something that the money you use gambling could be used on/saved. Try to think of the loss over the gain. If you think that the risk of losing say $100 would outweigh the benefit of winning extra money then dont do it. All i can say is you may need proper help and not just advice.

 

Most, if not all gambling sites are "rigged".

Either so much so that you always lose (after they let you win - psychological 'reward' trigger to keep you playing).

Or "legit" gambling sites have the odds stacked against you anyway.

It is cliche, but "the host always wins". If they didn't, they wouldn't invest thousands in advertising their website.

Money doesn't buy happiness, it's what you do with what you have which does.

30K could have been used in so many other ways but you shouldn't cling to the pain it has brought you. Accept it as an expensive learning curve and move forward. You don't have to make the same mistake again, and once you don't, then you win, not the host.

 

You need to change your lifestyle. Get a hobby. Dancing or any kind of physical activity can cheer you up and take your thoughts away from gambling.

If your gambling was csgo related, then you are in luck, however if not I would definitely pursue a hobby, I can recommend jogging/running outside, as it relieves a lot of stress.

 

I think just as a reiteration from @Anet390 's post about this issue, and what I'm pretty much picking up from every poster before me is the redirection of energy and effort toward it. My suggestion is like everyone else's: Find something else to occupy your time to get your mind out of the gambling scene. If you feel the need to come back to it, create a safe competition between yourself to work on improving some aspect of your life. Grab a friend to go running with you, or get competitive with a friend on a safe game that doesn't involve the exchange of your money.

 

Its not only about gambling right now but I'm having big issues with paying rent and bills as I barely have any income. Hopefully I can find some way get over these hard times.

However good news is that I have found a girlfriend. She is a very kind person and cheers me up a lot, it couldn't have been any better time for this to happen. She makes me think of so many better things to do than gambling so I'm putting all my effort to stop it. I like her way too much already, she's like only person that makes me smile and I don't want to lose her for something stupid as gambling.

And I appreciate all the helpful posts that you guys have made. I probably got into this situation as I have been quite lonely for years and my irl friends are like big pile of garbage and don't give a **** about anything. They just think all problems go away if you drink enough alcohol - and well, it doesn't go like that. So what I'm going to do is find new friends and be with this awesome girl and try to move forward in life.

There might be organisations in your country which can ban you from all real life casino's aswell as registered online ones where you need an ID to register. Look into that.
though honestly if you have a bad day, you need support from relatives and friends way more then having some sites blocked. Talk to your friends and family about the problem and let them know it's serious because... it really is.

You make the life more exciting with the gambling. I don't suggest quitting the gambling, but reducing the amount of bets. For example in finland we have a lotto that's once a week, one ticket to it cost 1euros, that's one euro for a lotto where from you can win a millions of euros. The point : 1euro / 1week and ur life already got more exciting by gambling.

Also you can bet on games (football) etc. F.e betting 1 euros per day MAX to games that comes at evening. (Watch the matches, go sleep) you basically can make up the multiplier urself, you can win huge amounts of cash even with the one euro bet.

Doing it that way, you could get the same vibes that you used to get from a casino and you wouldn't lose a huge amount of money. And also maybe someday you would quit it overall.

It's just like everything, some people can quit their habit by stopping it to the wall but some people requires reducing it step by step. And let's think, almost everyone plays the lotto and gambling isn't a problem for them.

 

I know in belgium you can contact someone who works for the government to completely block your ID from signing into any gambling site. I'm not sure if an ID verification is required in all countries but this could be a possible solution for you.

edit: the comment above me is also a good idea. with sport betting you can get a muliplier win as high as you want! this way you can win 1000s of dollars with just 1$! chances are slim, but its can be very immersive and exciting, unlike a lottery
