Was also hoping to have a few questions answered, brand new to the workings of the forums and was wondering what people mean by "ask for a pm" are only certain people allowed to send private messages?

"Ask for a pm" is just what it sounds like. Ask the user you're talking with to send you a pm on Sythe so that you can verify their identity.

Well I like to think it's pronounced "AE nonymous" (if you understand what I mean by that) but people usually just say Anonymous whichever works best lol it's a really dumb name but I've been using it for a little while now and it's become my regular.

I guess I didn't really have many questions I just made it sound like I did. The thing that I was just wondering about was the pm'ing and the rest was branched from that.

 

You sort of have it correct.
Basically, a Sythe account is the most secure thing we have. It's the most "unhackable," if you will, means if identification. Everything branches off of there. If someone loses their Sythe account, they're fucked. But that can be identified and their account banned immediately. So while it's the most important, it's also the most secure, because it's completely under our control. Say if someone's messanger goes rogue, then we can't do anything about it other than announce, which still leaves members potentially at risk.

Requesting a private message if you're talking in an outside source allows you to verify that they are who they say they are on our website, which links all of their vouches (a form of reputation here) and previous trades and activities.
