Hybriding Help Please...

Hey guys. I recently tried hybriding on my pure. I don't hybrid often and I'm more of a range to spec weapon guy. I'm not really good at switching prayers, and switching from mage, range, to then melee. Anyways, I gave hybriding a try for my first time today and got smacked around. It's not my stats seeing as I do well when I'm not hybriding. I just can't get the process down. I don't know if switching prayers is more important than trying to change weapons and attack my enemy or what. Let's just say I need your tips on what I can do to get better. Most of the people I'm fighting seem like they have experience so it is a little rough for me. Anyways. All help appreciated.

P.S : What I was doing prior to this thread: Ancient Magicks --> Range w/ Dragon (e)----> Dds.

Didn't have luck trying to switch between those weapons.

 

I'd say first start out will melee/magic, then once better try range.
Practise in duel areana with a mate, (DM him) and you'll hopefully get rid of some nerves.
Just remember the most important thing is YOUR prayer when versing another pure (your No-honoring yes?) because dds will kill you..
I'd say just go with ghostly robes, Glory, dds, ancient staff, climbing boots, addy/mith gloves...
That way you can use the staff as a melee weapon as well and it still doesn't hit that bad.
Make sure you know how to use auto cast well (very awkward when you are switching to dds and still blitzing)

 

its just takes practice man. dont give up.

 

How do you switch to a dds spec after you've been auto casting? Since it first says you don't have enough runes?

 

I quickly go to spec tab (f5) and click on slash or whatever, then your character will attack and auto casting will stop.

 

Go to Clan wars safe portal and practice your hot keys

Try using less items per switch if you're having trouble. Currently I can 3 item switch like a beast.

I like to line up my items closest to the next button I have to click..

for instance, mage equipment located in the same place as the spell you plan on casting.. your spec weapon in the same area the special bar is located.. that way you can just use the hotkeys to switch around..

Try loading your empty spaces up with food so your items don't get mixed up when you switch around..

Try keeping one section for range, one section for melee, and one for mage, that way you don't get confused when quickly looking for armor..

Use armour that looks different so you know without a doubt what colors go with what armor.. Remember, it's all about using speed to make a smooth switch. doing this helps you locate stuff more quickly, even by a few milliseconds..

you could always be lame and use an auto switcher till you learn the fundamentals, then start switching legitly

 

Hybriding takes time to learn man everyone has a unique style. However my favourite thing to do when tribriding is use the combat triangle.

1. Try and get a freeze so they cant move. Once theyre frozen proceed to mage them if they are in low magical defence gear(platebody) or range them if they are in low range def gear(robes)(hides)

2. always special when they are in hides or robes unless they are exceptionally low health.

3.Always try and relax when your bridding if your panicing youll most likely die or look like an idiot.

4.When they are low health trying to eat this is the time to freeze

Kill dank your idea is nice however when you switch gear it fucks all that up i put all my stuff at the top d hides on the left weapons and defender centered and rune on the left. assuming im in my magic gear. Sorry if this post sounds sloppy or jumbled

 

when they are in robes and frozen put on your mage def and melee, range isnt neccesary

 

This is a cheap idea of how I usually set up my inventory.




the lunar and ancient staff are there with a mage pot so that I can switch to magic armour, sip a pot, and f4 over to barrage without having to move my mouse across my inventory. the pot is because this account has only 91 mage.

substitute the astrals for deaths.

super set is at the bottom, out of the way.

dds is located near where the special bar will be.

crossbow and kiteshield are on top because I rarely use them, but they're close enough to everything else I could use them if I have to.
d hide is close to all the armour so that I can switch to it quickly if I need to.

The armour does not go to the top spot in your inventory when you switch it with another piece, it stays where the other piece was at, so you don't have to worry about your inventory getting messed up unless you have a 2 handed weapon that will put your shield or defender in your inventory and mix everything up.

I've got the same problem as you mate, I haven't played for a long long time, so I'm out of my 'rotation', I get killed alot, but if you don't give up you'll learn from it.

 

Ill post my inventory set up later all my switches are done in split seconds because i either mover in a circle or 2 down over and down another 2.

 

In edgeville your invo should be 2 brews, 2 restores(maybe3) ice barrage runes, anti pois, super attack an strength, main spec weapon, staff,tabs(personally I use my glory for extra invo spot, tank gear, atleast dhide top for Mage defence, Mage book zammy book with defender switch.

Scrap the range, it pretty much useless just a waste of space.

Open up your xp counter so you can see when you hit hard, when you first freeze someone I'm quite sure it's 7 barrages till they are un frozen.

If there is a TBer make sure you protect Mage with your melee tank on to get a half tb instead of a full.

Start off with smaller switches like just doing normal stuff like top bitten an shields, when you get used to them try adding boots and ammy. When you get decent an are comfortable risking more you will start owning coz there is always new people to feast on and if your out gearing them you will
Most likly win.
