Skateboarding in olympics? WHAT?!

I heard some rumors about skateboarding in the Olympics this year, but I heard it got post-poned to 2012, Is this true? I wander if this will affect the X-Games...

 

I never heard of it, but I don't think skateboard is popular enough to be added to the omplyics.

Although skateboarding, along with many other biking sports are extremely hard and I think it will make a place somewhere.

I have a feeling it will enter the olympics. Its a controversial subject and its an independant sport, but I think it will some day

 

No way could skateboarding enter the olympics.... It's like umm Extreme Ironing being in the olympics, just not going to happen.

I don't think it's a bad idea, it's a sport just like everything else in the olympics.

 

iirc they've been trying to get it in there for quite some time

if they had it in there it would be awsome! and open the way for other extreme sports

 

Ahhh, yet another 12 year old who thinks Tony Hawk Pro Skater games portray real life skateboarding in the fact that Tony's the best at vert and Rodney's the best at street/tech. Don't get me wrong Rodney is a awesome if not one of the best tech but there are many others who are better then the aforementioned.

As for skating in the Olympics you cant rule that out.

Skateboarding an olympic sport=fail

In skateboarding everything has a diffrent level of difficulty (move-wise) so can it really be judged? There's nothing that can be measured.. No distance, time, etc...

 

It would be rather nice to have 3 weeks of skating on the TV...

 

If this is passed, and actually becomes part of the Olympics, I will have lost all faith in humanity.

 

Skateboarding is a respectable sport.
Whats the big deal?
To me the idea of people rolling around on planks of wood with wheels performing extremely difficult tricks that take hours of practice, a high level of skill and style have equal rights to be in the Olympic games as do people
that wait for clay objects to come flying through the air giving them very little time to put a bullet through the clay objects. Which also takes skill, blood dopeing and alot of practice.

There is other aspects that get judged.
They have skateboarding championships etc.
They don't draw a name out of a hat...

I think it would be a good idea.
Just my two cents however.
