I don't know if I should laugh or feel bad. Maybe both.

I also don't know whether to facepalm or be mad. Maybe both.

I'd give a facepalm for the ref, but feel sorry for the family of the player. That is just awful..

In fairness the ref was doing his job and called it as he saw it.

As a ref, you'd wait until the player got up before you book him. And seeing him flat on the floor and not moving and to give him a yellow card is ridiculous.

    ROFL

    True.

I would of called a RED card, if someone just collapsed from a tackle and stopped moving.

Tragic for this guy and his family.

Well the ref obviously didn't know he had a heart attack or else he woudn't of booked him. Like said he just gave what he saw. I'd hate to be the other teams supporters screaming at him for diving, then realising he died. o_O

Players that dive, tend to protest for a freekick too. Surely it would of been obvious if he is flat on the floor, not moving that something isn't quite right.

I haven't seen a video of the incident but I don't know what the fuss is about.. maybe he was quick on giving him the yellow card, but surely he had no clue he was having a heart attack. You can't expect him to read people's minds, or instantly know someone is in trouble >_>

The ref must have been feeling bad afterwards. "Yellow card for diving n00b!" :\

You should probably make a thread about it, actually.

Well in the ref's defence, he probably saw a lot of fake "unconscious" players in his time and reacted as past discretion would tell him.

R.I.P to the player and my condolences to the family.

That's such a sad story. It isn't the refs fault he didn't know the guy had a heart attack, he was just trying to do his job.

Yes because his job is to give out preemptive punishment.

Well even if the referee had immediately called an ambulance, I don't think the poor guy would be alive. He probably thought the guy was "play-acting" and decided to give him a yellow card.

I feel really bad for the guy's family. :(

Logic says you make sure the person is okay before assuming the worst.
