Downgrading from Vista to Xp

Hey guys, well, a few days ago i trying to downgrade to xp by sticking in my xp cd. I was thinking that well like most OS' i would get a pormpt that would ask me if i wanted to boot form cd or harddrive. Well, it didnt lol. So i was just wondering if its possible to partition my harddrive with vista and xp WITHOUT having to format?

I havent tried making my comp boot from cd from the BIOS because im not sure if i can downgrade without formation.

Any help would be much appreciated

 

Why don't you just back up your entire computer, then wipe the entire computer clean, then start from scratch... will be alot faster aswell if your computer is more than 2 or 3 months old.

 

Flash your motherboard then install it

Restart your computer, except with the CD in the drive. At your bios loading screen, keep mashing all the F1, F2 (except F8) keys. Generally it's F12, but the key to get into the device loading screen can be different on computers.

Select your CD as the option, and boot from it. In the installer, you will be given an option to partition your drive in any way you want.

If you want to downgrade, there are two options. There is a downgrade CD you can buy from microsoft, or another thing you can do is just make a backup of your files, and bring them back in the new install.

 

Flash motherboard's BIOS= taking the battery out and putting it back in. Basically resets it as if you just bought it new.

 

downgrade disc requires higher than home vista... i dunno which but with home you cna;t get one... i don;t think.....

If you can't downgrade using the CD, then you might as well back up, install XP, then restore your files.

 

What do you mean 'Downgrading'. Can't you just format your hard-disk and then install it? You get no such trouble with proper operating systems.
