Yes, your HWID will have changed. Even if you were to reinstall XP, it would still have changed. There are programs out there that WILL change your HWID but I believe they cost money.

Yes. A reformat and reinstallation of even the same OS will result in a different HWID being generated.

Hardware IDs are hardware specific and have nothing to do with your OS / software.

Google your hardware IDs(PID and UID) and it will come up as the same no matter what.

I don't know why this guy is saying otherwise, download hardware device identifier and try it on multiple systems. I assure you it'll be the same!

That'll change your serial number if you're trying to register your hardware to a company.

Other than that, what are you trying to accomplish, and what current issues are you running into?

It depends on what program is generating the HWID. Generally, OS re-installs will cause a new HWID to be generated when anything other than key HW has been specified to generate the HWID, such as MSOOBE's XP activation wizard.

I'm not sure what the benefit of this is.

Your hardware ID pertains to your drivers and how windows uses them. Why in the world would you want to change these at all? There would be no drivers unless you created them yourself..

Again please refer to my above post when I say " what is your objective ".
