Can someone tell me about botting?

Haven't used a bot since rs2 and would like to learn how to bot for gold again, I heard ban rates are high these days.

 

If you're going to bot on your main, only bit for maximum 4hr/day, and occasionally talk in game while botting to make you appear real.

 

Eh, I really wouldn't agree with any of that. You're not going to be botting your main accounts and there's no feasible way to chat in-game across your whole farm, not to mention it's completely unnecessary regardless. Not sure why you posted a thread saying you were in this exact situation but then hopped to this one to give advice lol.

Ban rates nowadays are mostly composed of people either suicide botting or just doing it with a lack of knowledge/care. If you take the time to learn about the subject and staying under the radar, running a farm will be much easier and more profitable. The common starter misconception that ends up burying people is thinking that botting is just easy money, it really isn't. It takes time, effort, and capital to get good results. Every aspect counts, so don't half-ass anything.

There are a lot of clients to choose from nowadays, some better than others. The community favorite nowadays is Simba, which is color-based rather than injection or reflection. There are tons of good clients to choose from though, so you're free to find what you like. When it comes to choosing scripts, avoid anything free. Free is the devil. Premium scripts can yield good results with wise choice, but if you can put down the money, I'd definitely opt for having a private script written. Every platform has a lot of good commission script-writers, so if that's a possibility, you can just contact someone you like and they'll give you a quote.

A very crucial aspect in botting is using proxies across your farm. Proxies are essentially remote computers which hide your IP by making every account appear as if it's coming from a different source. The reason this is important is because when Jagex's system catches a bot, it will search for accounts accessed from the same IP and ban them as well, called a chain ban. @yohojo has a great guide written on proxies: All About Proxies for Runescape Botting. And I'd recommend checking out BlazingCEO when you're ready to buy proxies, best service I've ever used at the lowest prices.

To host a good amount of bots, I'd say more than 5, you will also need to rent out either a VPS or dedicated server (I'd honestly just go with a dedicated server). As you could probably guess, the more powerful a server is, the more it will cost. Like proxies, these are rented out on a monthly basis. I'd keep away from any services that involve themselves with RS botting, they charge twice the price and normally aren't great. Also like proxies.

Hm what else. Don't bot for more than 4-8 hours a day and be inconsistent about it. Go harder on weekends. Make sure your bots have some skills leveled, preferably those which affect combat level. Players can and will report you if they think you're botting, so the goal here is to make your accounts look as inconspicuous as possible.

All in all, setting up a healthy bot farm isn't going to be very cheap or quick, but it's more than worth the work you put in. Of course there's a ton I left out, so I'd definitely recommend checking out botting forums for more info.

For client I would go simba (although it's more time consuming to setup compared to other bots but low banrate), topbot low cpu usage, osbot free, and tribot paid, I would recommend premium scripts or custom made scripts although I have been doing fine with free recently, and managing how many hours you bot, using vps's or vpn's etc should help with ban prevention, I would recommend you to check out the botting guides other sythe users have put out, really informative for someone just getting into botting

 

Ban rates are very very high atm, make no mistake. from my experience the paid bots like tribot are no safer than the free bots available. The only way I have been able t bot without a ban is via my own scripts made in autohotkeys. This way you aren't using an injection client and cant be detected by jagex that way. OSBot and Tribot both use injection. Which basically means its messing with inputs and outputs that are going to the server, which is detectable by jagex's detection software. The scripts you can make with AHK are nowhere near as complicated as scripts from osbot/tribot*, however in my experience there is 0% ban rate. I'm able to train magic in a variety of ways with my simple scripts, and there is potential for creating scripts that powermine or do basic tasks with a little bit of effort. getting an acocunt to bank with AHK would be difficult however.


*I would say, if you want to use complicated scripts from injection clients, then use a private vpn or proxy, never bot on your main account or any account for over 4-5 hours per day, and get used to changing your MAC address. Also I highly recommend against using popular free scripts as they are commonly banned in waves. Also, avoid using scripts that are made for goldfarming like runecrafting scripts. goldfarming bots are the most heavily targeted by jagex, compared to bots that train combat skills or play minigames.

 

What's the difference between a dedicated server and a VPS?

 

pretty much with a VPS you're sharing the actual hardware with other users whereas in a dedicated server nobody uses the hardware but yourself.
