Guide to not getting phished.

If your here from my signature link you have to be the biggest fool ever! I could have really phished you! Heres a guide on how NOT to get phished.

1. Always use diffirent usernames and/or passwords for different places. (RuneScape other forums etc.)
2. Never click a link your not sure of if you can't see the url, or even if you can. Some computer allow you to hover your pointer over hidden links to view them.

3. Make sure you have and anti-virus program on your computer and that you scan alot.

4. Never download a program your not sure of.
5. Check the url bar.


If you follow these easy tips you can save yourself alot of hassel!

Nice guide, most antiviruses warn you when you go onto a phishing site though.

 

Not everyone has anti virus.

Those people are silly..
I'm sure 80% of computer users have a anti virus.
Maybe in you're guide you can give the download link for a free antivirus such as AVG which is in the top 10 best virus protecters.

 

Could you give me the link to it? I dont know it. I normally run on mac and right now im on my grandmas computer.

I personaly think people who get phished are just stupid as you can see its a different url but you can get really clever ones which replaces your original site.

 

some phishing sites get high tech. its not always easy to keep from getting phished on old computers too

 

Yeah I understand that there are also firefox addons which wont let you login if the site isn't verified by yourself and then you can obviously see it doesn't match the runescape.com and so you can deny it.

 

Or you can just LOOK at the url bar before logging in.......?

Well actually, looking at the url bar will do nothing if you got pharmed.

 

Like I said this is a broad topic, not everyone uses firefox

 

pharmed? whats that? And some sites can put a keylogger on your computer just by visiting them and clicking on there link.

 

Just because you have an antivirus doesn't make you safe either.

 

Its a good precation though.

 

Yeah it really is but mostly you need to know when something sounds abit fishy because all it takes is someone to modify the file and the antivirus will not detect it.
