    How to rename the desktop Recycle Bin (only works for Windows XP)

    Note: This only works for Windows XP, i will be posting another guide soon which will tell how to do it on other Windows versions.

    Ok, this is a very simple guide.

    1. Open up Notepad.

    2. Enter the following text into notepad:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder]
    "Attributes"=hex:50,01,00,20

    "CallForAttributes"=dword:00000000

    3. Save as bin.reg (note: It doesn't have to be bin, but it MUST end with .reg)

    4. Go to the file you just saved and double click it

    5. A prompt will come up asking if you are sure you want to edit the registry...click Yes

    5. Now go to your Recycle Bin and right click, there will now be a rename option :)

    NOTE: This also enables you to rename pretty much all the functions on your Windows XP, excluding Search, Run, Control Panet etc...

    I hope this guide helped! Please provide Feedback!

    You made a nice guide, but is there any advantages to renaming this? Does it benefit you?

    Not really, I just liked doing it because Windows XP comes quite boring, so its nice to add some personality to it :)

    How to rename the desktop Recycle Bin (only works for Windows XP)

    Lulz, I just renamed it dumpster...but honestly, this is going to be one of those guides that people who don't respect UE will look at, and respect it even less. You obviously didn't put too much effort into it (not saying they're necessary, as it's pretty straight-forward, but pictures or w/e would be nice). This is kinda a pointless guide, sorry. 7/10 for content, 3/10 for topic choice. Oh, and in the future...why not just link us to a YouTube video or something? At least google your topic to see if there aren't guides that are extremely similar to yours...

    Interesting guide. It can't do anything successful, though. You should add some pictures "just for fun".

    Open regedit , goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
    Desktop\NameSpace\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} , and delete it. That's how you delete your Recycle Bin.

    Please explain why you thought it was awesome and what you though [if you thought] anything could be improved. We don't need leechers just posting pointless comments to gain rank. Read The Dark's thread about productively rating a guide instead of commenting, "wow cool" etc. on every guide you see.

    How to rename the desktop Recycle Bin (only works for Windows XP)

    Can you make a guide for Vista? :)
    Or does this work for Vista?
    I don't dare to test it. :D
    If it worked, I would rename my "secret folder", which CAN'T be deleted, 'cuz it's name is alt+255, if any of you guys know what I'm talking about. ^^,

    I'm going to agree with matthewgor, guides like these are pretty pointless, and have no value other then a giggle for a second or two.

    4/10.

    Uhm, I didn't even touch my Registry, and I can already edit my My Computer, Recycle Bin... anything I want to.

    I guess thats the perks of Windows Server 2003 [Yes, Laugh, a server genius running on a Server OS... 2003! ha!]
