Before anything wear protective gear so you dont become a victim too.

Step 1:Call 911,Try to wake victim up if he is making any noises at all you dont need to use cpr yet because that means hes still conscious. However if he isnt preceed to step 2
Step 2:
Begin rescue breathing. Open the victim's airway using the head-tilt, chin-lift method. Put your ear to the victim's open mouth:
look for chest movement
listen for air flowing through the mouth or nose
feel for air on your cheek
If there is no breathing, pinch the victim's nose; make a seal over the victim's mouth with yours. Use a CPR mask if available and if it isnt then just dont worry about it you need to save the persons life Give the victim a breath big enough to make the chest rise. Let the chest fall, then repeat the rescue breath once more.

Begin chest compressions. Place the heel of your hand in the middle of the victim's chest. Put your other hand on top of the first with your fingers interlaced. Compress the chest about 4-5cm Allow the chest to completely recoil before the next compression. compress the chest an 100/a minute do 30 compressions at this time

Repeat rescue breaths. Open the airway with head-tilt, chin-lift again. This time, go directly to rescue breaths without checking for breathing again. Give one breath, making sure the chest rises and falls, then give another.

Perform 30 more chest compressions. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for about two minutes.

Stop compressions and recheck victim for breathing. If the victim is not breathing, continue chest compressions and rescue breaths.

Step 3:no matter what you dont stop untill the medics get there because every second could matter in saving a persons life.

You have left out so much. I, as a trained lifeguard know this stuff. Pen or Eric, please delete this, he could cause lives to be lost by teaching people the wrong thing.

The DR's ABC acronym?

To see if they are concious you must hit them on the collar bone.

You must make sure you are safe before you attempt CPR.

You should be trained professional when attempting this, not just a geek who has read it online.

You stop when you are either:
To exhausted.
Till someone more experienced comes.

Call 911 after you have made sure he is concious, he may be sleeping.

Even better, get someone else to call 911, but make sure they tell you when they have.

People can make noises when they are concious.

Next time, make sure you actually know what your writing about before you write it. Or let someone trained do it.

its 23 chest compressions for adults and

7 with thumbs for infants, Check with proper medical journals before you post another one. Pictures would be nice too maybe just where to do the compressions etc.
