How to PARTITION a hard drive. (Vista & Windows 7)

In this tutorial I will show you how to partition your hard drive using vista or windows 7.


What is a partition? (Taken from wiki)

How to do it?

This is pretty simple and no downloads are needed. Just follow this tutorial and your all set.


1. Click start or open up the start menu on your computer.

2. On the side you should see "Computer" right click "Computer and click manage.

3. Once you click manage a window will pop up. On that window you want to go to the side and click "Disk Management"



4. After you click "Disk Management" go to the bottom of the window and you will see your drivers. Go to the biggest one with the most memory and right click it, then click "Shrink Volume"



5. After you click "Shrink Volume" a window will pop up. Here you will choose how much of the hard drive do you want to partition. They do the calculations in MB so you have to put in a certain amount of MB.

1024 MB = 1GB



Once you put how many MB you want to partition into another hard drive press shrink and you should be finished.

A relatively good guide overall. I like the way you actually explained what guide partitioning is, some of the other guides to this haven't explained. This guide is also well presented and it's easy to follow. For next time, make sure that your picture cropping is of better quality and that when you provide a link to another website, make sure the information is reliable, I wouldn't consider Wikipedia as a reliable resource. Also, this guide was presented to a relatively small audience, for next time try and broaden your target audience.
