Step 1: For Compiz Fusion to correctly work on your system you must install your video card drivers, if not already installed. To do so in Ubuntu go under System->Administration->Hardware Drivers, and install your graphic
s card drivers. In my case Nvidia ones.

Step 2:Now open Synaptic Package Manager, System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager. Search Compiz. Now mark installation for Compiz, Compiz-Settings-Manager, and Compiz-Plugins-Main/Extras.

Make sure you click ok when it asks you about the definitions. Then after the installation restart.

Step 3: Now go in System->Preferences->Appearance. Now go under Visual Effects and make sure custom or maybe advanced is the one marked. Close out.

Step 4: Go into System->Preferences->Advance Desktop Effects Settings. Check all the ones you want

close out and your done. Now mess around with all your new cool effects.


Final Product:
Rain Drop Effect(after enabled shift+f9) Note its animated just a still photo. You can even use your computer while its going on.

Desktops On a Cube(ctrl+alt then move your mouse) Its a cool way of changing desk tops.

Even though I do not like the cube effect, you seem to know something about Ubuntu, you could make the pictures smaller though

Are all those effects only available in the latest version of Ubuntu? I'm running 6.10 + latest version of Compiz, but I never saw those effects other than "opacify" and the cubed-desktop thing. ;-;

 

The format is decent, good job.
Coloring: It's all green :s, It hurts my eyes.
Though I don't look on testing this guide out (because I have a mac) it does look very good. Bravo, 7/10.

 

What graphics card do you have? You have to download compiz manager and the extra plugins probaly. Then look through and find out there key combos and don't forget to enable them first.
