Ballin Boi's Guides: How to check your IP Address.

Hello. I am Ballin Boi, and this is my first guide. Lets get to the point. Alot of people don't know how to check their IP address. Well most people do not know really what an IP address is. That is what this next paragraph will be written about.

Heres a breif description of a Ip Adress: Each machine connected to the Internet has an address known as an Internet Protocol address (IP address). The IP address takes the form of four numbers separated by dots, for example: 123.45.67.890

Now, as you see above at the end of the paragraph their is a sequence of numbers. These numbers can be helpful, deadly, and alot of things to you. For one thing whenver you go to a website unless your blocking your ip (I will get into that later) you leave your IP Address. You may ask why is that bad? Heres the answer: An IP Address consits of four diffrent sets of numbers. Now with these numbers a person could know your address. Later in the guide I will tell you how to check your IP. Once you have your IP, you can search it in Google Maps and it will give your address. Thats why you have to be careful what sites you go on.

Now IP, addresses are used many diffrent ways by school boards, and the goverment. You all most likely have heard of a IP Ban. It can be used both ways. Thats how Schools block kids from playing on their game. They send their ip to the site holder and it gets ip banned. To get the ip I will include some pictures.

Now on your account at school you probbobly dont have access to command prompt so heres what you do. You go to 'Start' -> 'Run' -> Then in that box you type 'Cmd'.



Now once you do that this should come up:

Click 'OK'.

From their this should pop up:



Now once your at the above step type: "ipconfig"

Then when your at the above stage press enter, this should come up:



Well their you have it. How to get your Ip, and a breif overall of it.

But this is a little breifing on IP.

Yes their is faster ways, but sometimes you cant use those sites.

Yeah. There are tons of websites that do this for you, in about 1/4 of the time. A well-put-together guide, however.

That does NOT give you your external IP, it gives you your internal IP which is diffrent than your exteral ip, which people ban you from stuff with.

Your subnet mask is, let me guess, 255.255.255.0.

Your IP starts with.. ummm 192.168?

If it does not, you are not an average person.

Your default gateway starts with the same 6 numbers as your INTERNAL IP, I am guessing.

About the Google thing, there is NO way to know where your house is by using IP. It gives you where your ISP is located, not your house.

My EXTERNAL IP address is 74.32.13.170. HACK ME... Wait, you can't! Firewall.... Your IP address can only be used against you when you suck at protecting your self, you are dumb, or you have FUCKING GREAT ASS HACKER attacking you. Now, I bet all of the moderators here can see your IP address, so its nothing special.
I typed that in and my IP adress it said was, 192.168.254.1... HACK ME.
