How to Make a Diffuser/ Bubbler

Alright, so this is one of my favorite things to make. Whenever I make something I always like the construction, and the use. So here it is...

    Materials

-Water bottle or similar bottle (Coke bottles aren't very good because of shape, but Dr. Pepper works well. I like Deer Park the best.)
    -Fine point Sharpie
-Push pin (Not a thumb tack, something you can hold on to.)
-Lighter (Bic are good, but a single-flame mini torch makes a great hole.)
-Two sets or pliers or one and a clamp (Talk about it later.)
-Possibly a hacksaw (For cutting a part of the Sharpie.)
-A socket that will fit very snug in the Sharpie. (Talk about it later.)
-Small knife (That you don't care if you get Sharpie on.)
-Whatever you want to put in there (Weed, tobacco, cigar leaves, salvia, snuff, etc.)

    Directions

    1. Grab your Sharpie, pliers, and knife. Take the cap off, you won't be needing this anymore. Now here comes the tricky part. You need to separate the part with the ink from the part with all the writing on the outside. The part with the ink is the color of the Sharpie, and the other part is just...the other part. What I do, (since I don't have a clamp) is take one pair and grab the outside towards the bottom, and take another pair and grab the colored part. Twist the top plier keeping the bottom one firm. This might take a few minutes. Obviously if you have a clamp (one of those things that mounts on to a workbench) you can just clamp the bottom part and use pliers on the top. After you get the two parts separated, you need to get the ink out of the top part. What I've done is cut the tip off, and pulled the rest out with pliers. Find whatever works for you, I don't know any good tricks for this. Make sure to wash the two parts after you complete it.

    2. For this you're going to need a regular lighter (Bic or similar is best), a push pin, and the bottom part of the Sharpie you just disassembled. What you're going to be doing is poking holes in the bottom of the Sharpie. So how do you do this? Take the lighter and keep it on the bottom of the Sharpie for a couple seconds, just to soften it up a little. Then take your push pin and start making holes around the bottom. You want to make them where it starts to taper, right near the very bottom. (But not on the bottom.) Put them close together all the way around the Sharpie part.

    3. Now for step 3, go ahead and get your socket, both parts of the Sharpie, and maybe the hacksaw. Take the socket and put it in the top part of the Sharpie. If it's a little too big and it won't go to the thicker part of the socket either (a) force it down until it goes in and fits firmly (b) put some gloves on and heat up the socket so it goes into the Sharpie easier or (c) get a smaller cap. The heating of the socket works the best for me, as the socket will partially melt the plastic, then it will make a very tight fit as it cools down. Next you're going to put that part into the bottom part. The cap will be on the top and the holes will be at the bottom if you haven't figured that out yet. If it doesn't fit tight enough, you can use the hacksaw to cut the opposite end of the top piece down a little. There you go, the piece is made!

    4. This is the part where you make your bottle. Grab your lighter (or torch lighter if you got one), the piece (Sharpie), and bottle. With the Deer Park bottle, I put the piece about 2 inches from the bottom. Now here's a tricky part that might take a little practice. You need to make a hole in the bottle so the piece can fit tightly, without any air holes. Remember, the hole is always bigger than it looks. Just make a small one, and force the Sharpie through there, with the cap on the outside, obviously. If you can get it at a 45-60 degree angle, that would be perfect. It's supposed to look like a mini bong.

    5. The final step! Put a carb hole anywhere you want on the bottle, or don't put one and you can just pull the cap part out. (Not the bottom part with the holes, the part with the socket cap.) I'd recommend putting it high enough so you don't have any chance of spilling water out of it. You want to put enough water in the bottle so it's just over the holes. When you pull the smoke through, it will bubble. Pack up your cap with whatever and have a great time!
