How to transfer songs from pc to pc via your Ipod

Hello and welcome to my 4th guide.

In this guide you will learn how to access hidden files on your iPod which will allow you to do two things.

    1. This will allow you to put songs onto your iPod and completely skip using itunes.
    2. This will allow you to transfer songs from one pc to another, which is actually rather time consuming unless you use this method.

    Requirements:

    - An iPod (This dose not work with iPod touch or iPhone, i do believe it works with all other iPods though)
    - Windows (I believe there is a way to make this work with Mac, but i don't know it)

    Step 1:
The first step is to connect your iPod to your computer.

    step 2:

Open up my computer and double click your iPod.

You will now see the contents of your iPod, but sadly enough you will not see your music.

    Step 3.
Click tools and then folder options.

    Step 4.
next you will want to click on the "view" tab. After in the view tab go down to the folder "hidden files and folder" underneath that you will see "show hidden files and folders" click this, then click apply or ok.

Congratulations! you now have accessed files that most people do not know exist :)

    Step 5.
    Click the transparent folder "iPod_Control"

    Step 6.
    Click the transparent folder music.

There you go, all of your music is now located with in these folders.

    Skipping itunes

If you decide you do not want to use itunes anymore you can drag and drop your songs directly into this folder.

    Transferring songs between PCs.

If you have lost all of your music or want to put the contents of your iPod onto your computer you can simply do this.

    Step 1.
Put the songs that you want transferred onto your iPod.

    Step 2.

Follow the process listed above on the PC you want to put the songs onto.

    Step 3.
Once you have the transparent "music" folder open, drag and drop all of the folders located in the folder onto your desktop or wherever you want your songs to be located at.

This is a good guide, it's not one of those guides in which most people generally know, which I like.
I read the guide, and I didn't really understand how you explained how you transferred from one pc to the another, you've clearly explained how to skip itunes, just not the other. You need to add colour to make it interesting, and center the text. Great use of pictures, and they are just the right size, well done. I would underline the steps as well. No spelling mistakes which is good, throughout all your guides there has been none, which is a good addition which the user education looks at.

You could explain the benefits doing this. Overall it's a good guide though.

Thanks for your input, i plan on adding some color and spicing it up. I will also explain how this allows you to transfer songs, but in a nutshell you basically put all your music on one computer onto your ipod then use this method to upload the songs to another computer. This is useful because in order to take songs from itunes normally you have to covert them to mp3 files and it is costly to get a mp3 converter.

Ive taken the suggestions for this guide into consideration and edited the guide accordingly. As for the comments towards appearance i have decided to keep it as it, simply because i like the way it looks. If anyway has any suggestions for color schemes i would not mind changing if it looks good.

Hope the edited version helps :)

I like this guide. You took a subject that not many people knew about and ran with it. I like that because it gets really tiring to be critiquing guides on the same subject again and again.
You should work on your grammar and capitalization. Let's look at your very first sentence.
You didn't capitalize the "H". I know it seems minor, but it does please people like me, who likes to read impeccable grammar.
Also, please don't make all your words formatted. It makes it kinda blend in with the titles, and doesn't make the title stand out.
For example, the difference in size between "Step 1:" and "The first step is to connect your iPod to your computer." is minuscule. I'd prefer if the "Step 1" was considerably larger than the actual step.
You should also use other colours when writing. Not just white. It kinda makes it better to read. However, don't use those colours that blend in with the Sythe background as it's hard to read and pisses people off.

    Nevertheless, good guide!

    Thank you

I will fix this right away, thanks for the advice. Usually i am pretty good about these kinds of things. Also while were on the topic you should have wrote " who like to read impeccable grammar." ;)

I agree the titles could be a bit bigger and i will fix them, as for the white i usually do use colors which work quite well (imo) but i thought that the white looked good with the pictures in the guide, which is why i left it white.

The iPod touch uses a different system so it doesn't work the same way. Whether or not there is a way around that I do not know, sorry.
