Intro:

So you made the mistake of buying Windows Vista. So did many other people. I am here to help you learn how to let your favorite programs run, your security less anal, and overall give you a better Vista experience.

Programs:

Many people have had problems running older programs on Vista. Mainly because Vista's security is so sensitive, it won't allow the program access to the things it needs to run. Here are some tips on how to let them run.

Step 1: Right click on the program and click properties. There, go to the compatibility tab. You should see a checkbox that says "Run this program as an administrator." Enable that. Press "OK" and run the program.

Step 2: If this doesn't work, then go back to the compatibility tab. There should be a checkbox that says "Run this program in compatibility for:" Enable that, and make sure the name on the list says "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" Press "OK" and run the program.

Disabling the "Need your Permission to Continue" message.

Who else is sick of that message whenever you try to run something?? There is a simple way to get rid of it. Microsoft recommends that you don't do this, but what does it even do? I don't know, but it might be that whenever a virus tries to run invisibly, this program blah message will come up and warn you. Whatever. In the control panel, you can go to the security center. There should be a "Change the way Security Center alerts me" thing there. Choose not to notify you and not to show the icon. Ta-da!

Changing the styles

The Aero look gets pretty annoying after a while. Well for me anyways. Here is an easy way to change the theme. Just simply download WindowBlinds (http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/ ) and install some themes! You can also make your own themes with SkinStudio (http://www.stardock.com/products/skinstudio/ ).

RAM Limitations

Unfortunatly, you cannot avoid this on Windows Vista. No matter how much RAM you put in your computer, Windows Vista 32-bit will limit it to 3gb. The 64-bit Home Premium version limits you to 16gb, and the Home Basic limits you t 8gb. (Like you will ever use 16gb of ram ) The 62-bit Business version will let you go all the way up to 128gb! GO $500,000 FOR 64GB DDR2 RAM CHIPS! (I don't know the actual price, i was exaggerating. Don't flame )

Color makes it annouying to read. The first thing is kinda basic, but its still nice... does not always work, but it works a great deal of the time.

2nd thing... explain it a bit more... did they change how you did that? because i did it a diffrent way....
