The big boss has generally been able to avoid legal issues by making sure there's nothing illegal on his website. Technically, Sythe doesn't do anything illegal, it's the members who trade Runescapes items who break Jagex's Terms of Site. One example of how Sythe dodges issues is how we have "Account Upgrades", which means that Sythe knows nothing about how members are gaining memberships which could be done via illegal practices.

There was the small potential to be problems. It's best that Sythe just covers all of his bases to ensure he's safe legally. Heads showed you why the changes to Account Upgrades were implemented. Sythes a pretty smart guy and knows his law, so he can cover most things pretty well.

I do remember him saying once on the older Sythe IRC if Jagex found a reason to sue him, he'd probably close the site. Hopefully he has covered every base in that case :'(

I think this site files more law suits than it has received it, which is currently promising however If you are under the impression this website does anything illegal, you are mistaken.

If it did I doubt it would have lasted 8 years. Richard is very good on law, so I doubt anything on here is an illegal activity (or at least anything illegal stays on here for long).

Does Sythe get into a lot of legal trouble?

This site has no illegal activity, so no.
The only thing that would involve lawsuits on Sythe would be the Sythe Verified Users. Sythe himself/itself (the forum as a whole) do not get involved, but all of the information of the Sythe Verified User is given to the scammed party so that they may take action themselves.

Does Sythe get into a lot of legal trouble?

I would assume no, it has been up for 8 years and shows no sign of slowing from what I see.

Users on the site do violate jagex terms of service and agreement, however this is all on the users as the site allows "upgrades" not pins, to be sold. This means that the site has no responsibility as to how members are getting the upgrades.

Since when? I'm sure in the past they've refused to give out SVU information?

Does Sythe get into a lot of legal trouble?

Yes but that was against the original intentions. It was SUPPOSED to be given out to those we were scammed, but it was misinterpreted by the staff. Richard cleared everything up ~two months ago and stated that the information is indeed to be given to those who were scammed.

Does Sythe get into a lot of legal trouble?

    That is correct.
Although I'm sure it was longer than 2 months ago, unless only the public was told 2 months ago.

Does Sythe get into a lot of legal trouble?

If that's the case, current Sythe Verified Users and future users should probably be told. Considering when you apply to be a SVU, the FAQ only says this:

Yeah it was updated on the Rules or something, but I guess the change never made it to the FAQ.

I was under the impression that personal info was withheld even in the event of a user scamming, when was this changed?

Richard is very smart when it comes to legal actions. When I proposed my bot idea it was declined due to the very fact of legal troubles. Richard isn't going to do anything that is going to compromise his site.

    Hi Elena
    And regarding OP
Sythe as website itself is not offering RWT services etc it's something like place where you can advertise your own user services/sales
