The atlas pass is an essential item that will open doors and chests in your travels.

It is recommended to pick an Atlas as the game begins. It is not known yet if there is a connection between the pass and being an atlas vs a free explorer. After your first couple warp jumps a transmission will be received regarding a monolith. Speak to it and follow the anomaly to an atlas station where you can collect warp cells as well as an atlas stone.

Jump away from the station at which point you should be alerted of another anomaly. Follow it and land to meet the creatures. You will then be granted an atlas pass recipe.
