I noticed this yesterday, there's nothing stopping us from using proxies as we can still freely download torrents at will. TPB are actually thanking the BBC and the guardian for letting everyone know about it, apparently TPB got an extra 12,000,000 visitors that day due to publicity.

Also have a look at: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/may/02/pirate-bay-block-virgin-media

I'm guessing TalkTalk, Sky and all the other major ISPs will soon do the same. BT haven't said what they're doing to do yet however. If anything this is just going to bring more popularity to the Pirate Bay, there's even this: http://torrentfreak.com/pirate-bay-enjoys-12-million-traffic-boost-shares-unblocking-tips-120502/

They've just wasted their time and made it worse on themselves, you can never actually 100% stop pirating.

There's a list of domains you can still use. Blocking the main domain did nothing at all, and if anything, just further encouraged Pirating...

Once you set a precedent that you are allowed to block websites, it will happen more and more until people are using it to gain political power and then tyranny will set it. I'm less bothered with trying to stop piracy (even though its pro)... I'm more worried about the censorship (that sucks anyways) that they are using.

It's only a matter of time before I get this over my PMs... But yeah, this is only going to encourage it.

I suppose it could get out of hand if the power to do this was in the wrong hands, I don't think any website should be blocked to be honest, people always find a way round so it's pointless doing it and if anything just attracts more attention and publicity to the site.

I'm glad I use private trackers.
There is always Tor, other proxies or VPN's to circumvent the block. As long as you're able to get your hands on the .torrent file, you're good to go.

I posted this already, but hey-o. They really don't research anything do they. They think they can just shove us around and get away with it. They are terribly mistaken.

Worst thing is that this is paving a path to further censorship. Eventually, the internet will be nothing like we know it now.

Internet censorship is going to be a neverending battle, but at the same time, I doubt it's a battle that we're going to lose in the long run.

Btw here's a site that always sends you to a different proxy of TPB. (If a proxy gets taken down, it removes it from the list and directs you to another one, new ones get added every day.)
Let the front page load and it will direct you.

Well, I'm glad BT haven't done it because they are my ISP, I hope they don't get forced to block TPB either.

All 5 major ISPs have been ordered to block it, so far only Virgin have done it. The others have said they will do it at some point although BT hasn't said anything about it yet.

Many people have been leaving Virgin, but they're all just wasting their time. For one thing whatever ISP they switch to will block it eventually as well and it's not difficult to get back on The Pirate Bay.

You can do it now by using mafiaafire and/or a VPN. There really isn't any reason to switch ISP's.
