Enabling & Adding Gadgets on your Sidebar for Windows Vista

You may or may not know about a useful little feature on Windows Vista - the sidebar. It allows you to add things such as a clock, a weather tracker, a calendar, and even a contact list directly onto your desktop.

    Step One

Press the windows button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen (or wherever you assigned it to). Then go to "Control Panel".

    Step Two

Select "Programs" from the list of commands.

    Step Three

Select "Window Sidebar Properties" from the list of commands.

    Step Four

Your sidebar and a list of gadgets will appear after following the previous steps. They give you 12 to start, but more are available online.

Mix gadgets around and see what you like the best. Have fun tweaking with them.

    Enjoy.

    Good and easy understandable guide.

A note is that this works on Windows 7 too, just click "Gadgets" instead of "Programs" in Control panel.

Something you could work on is adding colours to the guide, but be careful not to use colours which makes the guide annoying to read. Use bright, neutral colours. I prefer only using colours in the titles, but that depends on who you ask.

Another thing you could add is where to download these gadgets, and maybe link some of your favourites (yes, I saw that "Get more gadgets online" link, but you may want to point out it's there).

Good guide, and I'll definitely begin using gadgets.
