Sent Xbox 360 for repair without a Warranty Sticker.

    Hey,

About a month ago I got the RROD on my Xbox 360. My 1 year warranty was over, so I decided to open it up and fix it myself. I did and got it working. About 3 weeks later of it working perfectly, I got one red light and a E74 message on my TV screen. I got onto the Xbox website to check what the cause of this was and I saw that the warranty for the RROD and E74 had been extended to 3 years If I had known this I would have never opened it to fix the RROD.

Anyways, I got on the phone and contacted Customer Support. I told them that I had the E74 error and that I wanted to send it in for repair. They set up the repair request and told me how to send it in. I sent in my Xbox 360 to Microsoft about 1 week ago.

I have heard of people that have sent in their Xbox 360's with a voided warranty and no sticker and even some that have modded their Xbox's and they still got repaired by Microsoft. I was wondering if any of you have been in this similar situation and if you sent it in, did it get repaired? Or do any of you know someone who sent it in with a voided warranty and managed to get a new/refurbished one back from Microsoft?

Do you think they will put my seial number on some sort of voided warranty list after it is shipped back?

What if I get it back and buy a warranty sticker off ebay and put it on then try sending it for repair again?

More than likely they will send it back to you unfixed. They will be able to tell that you opened it up and without an active warranty whats stopping them?

I know they will be able to tell because the Warranty Sticker isn't there, but I just thought I'd give it a try because I have read on a couple websites that people have sent in their modded/void warranty Xbox's and have gotten new/refurbished ones back.

Well in the case that it does slide you will more than likely receive a refurbished one. Though I doubt it will slide, best of luck though.

I think you could probably slide in with a console banned one.. but not without warranty sticker.

They will send it back to you. If they fix it, consider yourself lucky.

If it's out of warranty that means you had to pay $99 to get it repaired.

In which case, it doesn't matter if the sticker is on it or not, if there's mods on it, they'll be removed. As they send you back an xbox 360 thats to full factory configuration.

If there's a JTAG on it, it will no longer work, as they send you back an xbox 360 with a dashboard that has been updated to NxE (patched the JTAG).

If it were to be still under warranty with no sticker, they might ask for $99 as a payment for the repair, because removing the sticker voids the warranty. (which is the same as it not being under warranty)

Well here is the current Repair Status. I don't think it was fixed because if it was, it wouldn't have said Out of Warranty next to the serial number, Microsoft adds 1 year warranty to it when they fix them. Oh well.
