Vouches for guides allowed but not for artwork?

Why are people allowed to give vouches for guides, but not for buying/selling artwork such as signatures, avatars, website designs, etc?

I do not support vouches for receiving something like that for free, but when it is paid for a vouch should be allowed. A vouch for a signature indicates that the person paid the money/whatever for the artwork and it should be just the same as any other buying/selling vouch on this website.

    Please consider.

To be honest, there are very few GFX artists here whose work is good enough to sell for any decent fare. And, it's not like sigmakers are major scammers; most of them post samples of their work anyway, as a show of quality.

On the other hand, anyone can make a shit signature in paint, and sell it for 10k. To get vouches off of that doesn't help anyone.

Guide vouches are different, since they provide an indication of quality for something that potential buyers cannot see and assess themselves.

I agree, but usually(on sythe.org) the buyer pays an artist for his work AFTER it is complete. A vouch from the seller to the buyer after payment is received would indicate that the buyer paid up and that vouch could help sway someone in future trades/purchases.

Like you and many other mods have said in the past: it is up to the members to decide whether a vouch is any good or has meaning or not. I see people with vouches for selling a name for 3k gp, but I am smart enough to know that vouch isn't worth the time it took to type it.

From what I know of, artwork sale vouches are the only ones banned from being used or given. It being banned is unfair, let alone receiving an infraction for it.

The only reason I say that it is "the user's responsibility" is because there are some circumstances where we just can't disallow vouches. Although it is a bit ridiculous for someone to get 15 vouches off of one RWT guide that they probably leeched off someone else anyway, people really have absolutely no idea what they're getting when they buy a guide except from people's testimonials.

That doesn't mean I think we should open up new avenues for abuse, though; no matter how often we say it (and as often as we say "post count doesn't matter"), people still fall for it. The reason sig vouches were disallowed in the first place was the very thing I mentioned; people building up vouches for cheap/free random paint scribbles.

In that vein, I'd absolutely support disallowing name vouches. I've also considered a stance against free training services, as they tend to be minimal-effort jobs that prove nothing (ie, training fm from 15 to 20).

Like I said before, I do not support vouches for something like an account name/signature for free either.. But as for training I think that should count for something because the person doing the training was given access onto an account and did the job they said they were going to do. But, you're right on the level 15 to 20 point.. I don't see a solution to that other than banning free training vouches as well (I am not suggesting that, lol).

Meh, overall I just don't see how this is fair. :p

You're allowed to give and receive vouches for guides, just not graphics. Right now graphics vouches are a reason to be infracted.

You're not allowed to give vouches for signatures?

    There's a reason.

Think about it, any random scammer with good GFX can make a few signatures to get the community's respect just to scam you.

Think about it, any random scammer can sell a few nub accounts worth 1 usd to get the community's respect just to scam you.

users should talke the time to check vouches.... you can see users with 50 vouches 49 of them are shit like training or names and 1 its a "good trade" like a pin or something, that doesnt make them trusted

BUT some gfx artists take the time to make signatures or avatars for other users ( most of times for a fee) and they cant earn vouches ??

a good signature its worth more than a "rare" name so it deserves a vouch
