    Ebay scamming - please help

Guys i need help with something.

Say i bought an iphone of ebay. This iphone was then sent on recorded delivery.

However instead of finding the iphone in the box i find junk which is equivalent to the iphones weight.

Would i be abled to claim a refund? Clearly here ebay could turn around and say theres no proof that the seller has not sent an iphone, and they could suspect me of trying to scam?

How did you make the payment?

In any case like this, you should file a claim. Go here: http://resolutioncenter.ebay.com/

Choose "I received an item that does not match the seller's description," and continue to fill out the claim.

thanks, im really willing to buy an iphone from ebay but theres that potential risk.

Ive heard of many people buying phones and and products and claiming they came without the product in the box.

Furthermore i also seen that a lot of sellers scam their buyers by putting in junk equivalent to the products weight. This way they will be able to have chances in winning the case and would also have reicepts and tracking information.

In this circumstance would it be down to who ebay would believe is correct?

I think you are getting mixed up... Its 99% of the time the BUYER who claims the item to be wrong / broken, and then sends something else back.

100% of the time if you claim an item doesn't match the description the buyer will be asked to send the item back, so no need to worry if you receive a piece of shit tbh, as eBay will make you return for refund.

But if you was selling, and you sold the CORRECT item and the buy simply said its wrong, and they send back a used dildo, there is nothing you can do as a seller.

what if it was via a website where there is no protection.

For example gumtree. This site is used to simply advertise items.

This is sadly true. The policies of ebay and PayPal are both very unethical. I'd recommend just buying the iphone through a local meetup on Craigslist, etc.

What if someone paid through paypal using craiglist, althought this isnt recommended. Would they recieve protection even then, if they recieved an empty box and do they have the ability to sue.

The buyer is most likely going to come out on top. PayPal has horrible customer service, and I don't say that lightly.

In these types of cases, the police would refuse to investigate and would say its a civil matter? Is that correct.

You meet up with the seller in real life on craigslist, and you likely would be exchanging cash, not paypal.

This. ^ Also, buy from a top rated seller if you're worried about something like that happening, because if a seller receives multiple claims that their product wasn't as described, they would probably be banned I'm assuming if it was a re-occurrence.

As stated above as well, paypal/e-bay are the same company and they usually ALWAYS work in the buyer's favor. Therefore, you would just be able to file a claim.
