    Buying a Xbox 360

I'm going to be buying a 360 in a few days. I'll be buying the 250 GB console, which I believe comes with a wireless controller and a headset (correct me if I'm wrong). My question is: Which accessories do I need to buy that are needed or will improve the gameplay? Prices would be nice. Thanks.

First of all, it should come with everything you need to "Jump In". You're purchasing the new 250gb slim, correct? It has built in Wi-Fi so you should be able to get online if you have a wireless connection. If you're planning to keep your Xbox closer to your modem, I suggest getting an ethernet cable and using that to go online instead of the wireless connection, which you can get anywhere. The new console also doesn't come with HD/HDMI wires which are one of the things I personally HAVE to have because Xbox gaming in standard def. is crap. You can easily get a cheap HD wire for the Xbox for around $10-$20, but it's not really required if you want to just play casually. :)

I would suggest getting a play and charge kit, which just makes it so your controller is recharge-able from the console, instead of taking batteries. Believe they are 20$. Depending on how serious of a gamer you are, you could also possibly get a Turtle Beach, I would suggest the x31 (79$). They are a over-ear headset with surround sound, and they work amazing.

If you plan on taking gaming seriously, then i'd advise a good quality headset (one that plays the game noise through the headset with surround sound). This gives you a huge advantage in games like COD and Halo, because you can pinpoint your enemies location around you.

You can get turtle beaches for around $80 (wired) and upwards for wireless, but if you have the money, i'd advise Astro a40's which are $200 i believe? The build quality is superior to turtle beaches.

However if you don't plan on taking gaming seriously, everything you need is already in the box.

If you get friends over to play, you might want to get more controllers.
Other than that, I think having the plug and play charger thing for your controller is really useful because then you don't have to buy new batteries.

    Turtle beaches are headsets.

Get an ethernet cable, a decent (not those cheap ones, you'll regret it) HDMI cable, and a decent microphone/headset.

Oh, I'm getting the new 360 with the built-in Wi-Fi, and I heard it already comes with a headset. Anything else?

The headset it comes with is pretty crappy, but it still works fine. Just get an HDMI, Play as you charge kit, and a good ethernet cable and you should be good to go. :)
All in all, it should cost you anywhere from $40-$80 depending where you buy from.

Turtle Beaches are an expensive surround sound headset, they play game noises through the headset VERY LOUD. They are used primarily by COD fan boys to hear enemy footsteps.

Great for premature deafness none the less.

You should be fine with a standard wired headset, they are cheaper (You can get for like £10 off eBay) and use less controller battery than a wireless set. I would also recommend a Play & Charge kit, this lets you charge your controllers battery while letting you still play your game.

It might also be a good idea to get a fan mat thing (You get USB ran ones for laptops, im sure there's something similar for the 360), helps reduce overheating (not really necessary on the new xbox, but still a good idea if you plan on long gaming sessions).

HDMI cable, not sure if these are included with the new xbox or not but definetely worth having if you like a game to look nice.

Think that pretty much covers it, if you want help with any of that feel free to PM me or whatever.

I wouldnt suggest going with the WiFi. Ethernet is the way to go if your serious at all about gaming.

    Needs:
Headset ( Astro's, or Turtle Beach's - i myself have turtle beaches and i LOVE them, they are compatible with PC as well and come with a free 1 year warranty. They are great for movie's as well if your going to watch a lot of movies on your Xbox via Netflix, which a lot of people do. Turtle Beaches HERE - i have the X11's, flawless. Astro's HERE I myself don't have them, but many pro's use them over Turtle Beaches for some reason. )

Wireless controller ( They are rechargable with 2 options, plugging into the 360 for charge, or new batteries. I myself just use the battery packs that come with the controller and recharge with my console, fast, cheap, easy )

Some good starter games, you dont want to get bored quick. Try getting some popular games so you meet some good friends on xbox live while your getting better.

Depending on your TV, get an HDMI cable. They can switch between normal, and HDMI, depending on your needs.

    Hope this helps ;)

I got a question: If I have get the new 360 with the Wi-Fi, can I add an Ethernet cable later on to make my connection better? (If that makes sense..)

Yes, you can have them both, but the ethernet takes priority over the wi-fi (as long as you have the cable plugged in obviously)

You can still add Ethernet yes, theres a plugin on the back for it just like the other Xbox's. Wireless just seems to come with a lot of problems, and slows you down, so i would definitely recommend getting yourself an Ethernet cable.
