& in the simplest terms possible, a vps uses a remote computers resources, and a vpn uses the local computers resources.

 

Might even want to simplify it more than that

With a VPS you're basically renting "a computer" and you can then install and run any programs you want on it and it won't affect your own computer - In this case, running Runescape bot clients.

A VPN, you're connecting to a "computer's network" - This is generally used as a way to encrypt your network traffic so that people can't see what you're doing on your computer, as it looks like it's coming from the VPN Provider.

 

Last time i used Vpsinfinity, vps was so laggy, that i couldn't bot without pathetic frame rates and getting connection lost all the time. But that was before runescape bot nuke, not sure how they are now.

 

Yeah, Most providers, especially ones designed for runescape botting, minecraft hosting, etc, are oversold jokes that are utilizing openvz or heavily overselling their server.. You will want a Hyper-V, Xen, or KVM VPS for botting. OpenVZ and Java don't cooperate well together (Personal experience). Try either XygenHosting.com, or if you really need it to be cheap, PhotonVPS, but they're quite oversold. Don't expect to pay anything under $35-$60 for a smooth running VPS.

 

I use 14$ Vps 4ghz, 4gb Ram, runs perfectly with 2-3bots and for same price you`d be lucky to get vps for 1bot. And yeah rsbotting vpses get oversold a lot, vpsinfinity CPU were awful.

Definitely listen to this; however I would disagree that buying one specifically for whatever you are using it for is bad - whether that pertains to RS, Minecraft, etc as the providers have put a lot of time (If they're honest) into what setup works best, and general VPS providers (Non-specific vps providers) will oversell their servers, but that won't affect most people - but definitely will affect those who are botting or doing minecraft hosting as they expect to use all the resources they pay for. We originally used OpenVZ & Java during our early days (Over a year ago now) however we quickly switched and not utilize the Xen virtualization platform which works much better, and use top of the line processors on the market and always ensure that our CPU:Customer ratio is under control and leans towards your favor.
