What do you guys like investing in for the long term on rs07 and rs3?

 

I like bonds and rares on rs3

 

Doubt rs3 will survive long enough to make anything

 

2x xp weekends on rs3.

 

Nothing, because you would be lucky to make more then $10.

i dont think oldschool has any items that will retain value or even increase over time tbh

 

Its kinda hard, think of items that have low value but are kind of hard to get or a lot of people do not get it that often. Think of the price rise of Dragon Boots. No body was training slayer there so d boots price skyrocketed.

 

Only thing Jagex needs to do is release real discontinued items during the holiday. Considering the relatively large playerbase on OSRS, it'd be safe to say those "real rares" would be the most viable option for storage of value.

So you mean items like the Christmass tree hat released in 2012
Or the black santa hat that got release in 2013.
Or the christmass scythe released in 2014.
Or the holy wreath released in 2014.

These items where obtained only during a certain period of time and you are not able to get them anymore.

They still bring in items every now and then by giving out item tokens, you can only get them once and claim it for an item or an emote, once claimed you can never get them again because they where only available during that period. Currently nobody puts value to them because this is only done in the past year or so. I'm expecting these to go up in value if the game continues to exist.

 

All the items you have mentioned have appreciated in value. Even some tokens for that regard have seen some astronomical price rises. What I'm saying is: introduce an item with definite scarcity into OSRS, people will flock to it as their primary investment vehicle and store of value.

 

Hard to choose. Think of dragon boots which skyrocketed. You should buy items that are know cheap but not farmed that much by players. Eventually they will because of this reason, rise.
