Scam attempt?

So this guy "michael bonzova" adds me and wants a steam game.

I send him a link to my shop and he said he wanted a this game for 8 usd.

I tell him to post in my thread or pm me, I always to that to get rid of some scammers. He said he didn't have one and all this:

There my alarm is going off, I fell like not to trust this guy. But 8 usd, wanted to give it a try anyway.

He says he has sent the money, and instantly tells me to send the code (which was a gift like stated in my shop, so he didn't even bother to check it) and like I always I check my Paypal first. This time it was something i haven't tried/seen this before.

He said he want 80 usd back cuz he sent 88 usd as a mistake and that its non-refundable. For me it looks like those lines was something he wrote himself. Not Paypal.
So I talk myself out of this saying I haven't received the money which i haven't. He keep pushing on that he need to go, and that I should at least send him something. I say he can just contact me later, and reply that he go for 2 days.... In the end he use the "you are reported card". I say back to him that this is not my fault in any way, and that he can just report me if he want. He logs off skype after that.

This seems really fishy.

 

It's probably nonrefundable through paypal, but he is still able to chargeback the payment outside of it.

Have you tried calling paypal as to why the money doesn't appear in your balance? Invoices are supposed to be instant payments.

Be cautious.

 

Paypal was not open for calls at the time, and email would take 24 hours. I haven't done anything to it yet. The guy went offline after, so i assume it was scam attempt.

 

How long has it been since you got the invoice? I didn't notice it was a gift.

You didn't take that picture from your paypal?

 

I did, but he can change the invoice picture before sending it. You can't send as gift anymore.

 

Not sure how that is relevant since you already took the picture, and yes you can send as a gift still.

You shouldn't worry. This, was most likely a scam attempt and you seem well trusted here.

 

He was trying to get you to send you $80 and then chargeback the $88 he sent you. You should just go to the payment and refund it where it offers partial or full refund options. I've never seen an open paypal transaction without the option to refund it.

 

Got the same guy. The balance does not show that he has paid, he wrote himself that it is a gift and it is not refundable. How should this be dealt with?
