How To Become A Track Sprinter

Most people are either born with, or without speed, it's as simple as that. Although there are many overlooked tips, tricks and training methods that one can learn in order to become a faster and more agile runner. In this guide I will cover some of those tips, tricks and methods.

    Tips/Tricks
Head Down - Keeping your head down will lessen your wind resistance and will keep your form correct so you can drive out of your start.
Legs up - Getting your legs up high enough lets you cover more ground in a shorter time by making your strides longer and letting your legs explode as they come off of the track.
Arm Motion - Keep your arms swinging forward in a 90 degree motion rotate which arm goes first, this lessens the wind resistance and keeps your momentum going forward.

Shoes/Cleats - There are certain cleats made for certain events, be sure what you know yours are made for.
Start - Put your most powerful leg in front on the first block that way when you push off your other leg can swing by it as you gain your power push, start and momentum which gets you going faster.

    Practice Methods

Weight Training - There is nothing wrong with doing some light leg and core workouts. The more you tone your body the harder your muscles become and the more able you are to drive off of the track. The main muscle a sprinter will want to work out, will be the Hamstring.
Start - Practice with the blocks, a start can be a big advantage for any people so you just have to get out there and find what is most comfortable for you and which is able to help you explode from the start.
Resistance training - Can be bands to increase muscle and flexibilty. Use parachutes and sleds to get the burn and feel the gain of a good run. You will feel a lot faster when you run after doing the resistance drills.

I hope this guide helped, if there is anything you think I missed out on, post on here and I can add it.

This is a good basic guide, I think the quality of it could be increased by adding pictures of each of the described moves/stances/tips, as well as being more specific in some of the techniques. One example could be to list a good "sprinter" weight lifting regimen. Good work though!

Good work. I'm trying to get into sprinting myself as I'm currently a shotputter and a discus thrower due to me wrestling as a sport in the winter.

    Some things to Improve on:

-Make the size a bit bigger as it was a bit hard to read.
    -Maybe a different font?
-Add a title to make the guide look a bit more official.
-Add pictures such as a picture of the block or some cleats/shoes.
-Talk about some specific leg/core workouts that would help.

    Other than that, nice job!
