    How To: A lot Of FPS With Cs:S and TF2 On Your Shitty Pc

    It's Really Easy, Just Try Using a Teew Cfg File Legit :) Is Not a Cheat

    For Tf2:
    Simply paste the following into Notepad, and save the file as autoexec.cfg in your Steam\SteamApps\[email protected]\team fortress 2\tf\cfg folder.

    Code:
    *****************************************...
    //Netcode Settings (change to your preference)

    echo FPS Config Loaded!
    *****************************************...

    Now, after making the config, go to:
    STEAM->GAMES, and RIGHT CLICK on TF2, and go to PROPERTIES->LAUNCH OPTIONS.

    enter this:
    "-dxlevel 81 -width 1280 -height 768"

    HAVING DXLEVEL 81 is really important

    NOTE, the width and the height are just what I use (for my widescreen monitor). You can remove those settings (or shorten them to -w and -h), but I put them in there to illustrate that you don't need commas between commands, and can use those commands to change your resolution to something custom (ie: 640x480). I use them because the game was resetting my resolution whenever I started it. ALSO: If you screwed up your game with some settings, if you enter:
    -autoconfig
    in the launch options, and the start the game (and get rid of the offending autoexec before game start) , it will reset all of your options to default.

    NOW, once you're done with your autoexec.cfg make sure you make it "Read-Only" in the properties. This *should* stop the game from arbitrarily resetting your resolution, among other things.

    Ok, that's the main config.

    Now, if you don't know what to do with the autoexec commands, but still want to increase your fps, read this next bit.

    Copy/Paste all of the stuff between the asterisks into notepad. Change the "save as type" to "all types" and then Go to file->save as, and save it in:

    Steam->Steam Apps->ACCOUNTNAMEHERE->Team Fortress 2->TF->CFG

    and then save it as "autoexec.cfg"

    NOTE: If you don't change the save type to "all types" it'll just make it a text file, and it won't work.

    So, that about sums it up. I know I didn't detail what all of the video settings do... I run everything but shadows on low, however if your card has decent memory you can turn up the other texture settings etc without much fps loss. If you want to change those settings, delete em from the config and set them in game, or learn the commands from wikipedia, and edit the ones that I have already in the config under "actual game settings".

    Let me know if it works for you.

    PS: If you want to remove the weapon model from your screen, enter the command
    "cl_bobcycle 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999...
    i have it bound to a button so i can turn weapon models off when i play scout and turn them back on for other classes. i believe the default value is .8 (model on). if i'm wrong, you can find out the default value by just typing in "cl_bobcycle" and hitting enter.

    Simply paste the following into Notepad, and save the file as autoexec.cfg in your Steam\SteamApps\[email protected]\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg folder.

    Below is my expanded tweak guide for getting the best performance out of CS: Source.

    Launch Options
    Source has many performance-friendly launch options built-in that you may find give you a significant performance gain. Launch properties can be added by right-clicking Counter-Strike: Source in Steam's My Games menu, clicking Properties, then Launch Options.

    -dxlevel: Sets the DirectX level Source runs in.

    You may find that setting this value lower to than what your card can actually support yields a performance increase. For example, a DirectX 9 card may run significantly faster in DirectX 8.1. Again, it is best to test various settings to find out what is right for you. Use the following:

        * -dxlevel 95 for DirectX 9c
        * -dxlevel 90 for DirectX 9
        * -dxlevel 81 for DirectX 8.1

    -heapsize: Dedicates a specific amount of memory to Source.

    Increasing the allotted memory can yield substantial performance gains. However, it is important that you dedicate the right amount of memory. Dedicating too much or too little could actually cause a performance decrease.
    It is recommended you dedicate half of your system memory. Below is the recommended usage:

        * 512MB System Memory: -heapsize 262144
        * 1GB System Memory: -heapsize 524288
        * 2GB System Memory: -heapsize 1048576

    CVARs
    The following is a list of CVAR tweaks I've compiled through experimenting and various research. These commands help to strike an appropriate balance between quality and performance. You can find other CFGs that basically destroy the look of the game. I tried to maintain the appeal of Source while making it playable. These commands are CAL / CSP compliant.

    Simply paste the following into Notepad, and save the file as autoexec.cfg in your Steam\SteamApps\[email protected]\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg folder.

    Note: The comments will not interfere with the commands.
