Rekt by a Scammer.....

Well I just got completely rekt by a scam that I have yet to see before on sythe. Basically how this scam was done, was the scammer created two skype accounts, one for a trusted user, and one that impersonated me. First he added me with an account that impostered the trusted user. Next he used the account that impersonated me to add this trusted user. After adding both of us with the spoof accounts, he got the trusted user to pm me to confirm it was him. In the Pm it did include 5 lines from skype chat, but I took a glance and did not notice they were different chats, because they were almost line by line identical. So after thinking I was talking to the legit member, I went first and got scammed 55 eoc. Man this really sucks, I just wanted to let you guys know about this lame ass scam.

Unlucky, always get PM's i stopped oldmate from doing the exact same thing to me but i didnt get a PM from him so i cant prove it.

 

I did recieve a pm, but didnt realize it wasnt from my skype until it was too late. The scammer was actually pretty smart and made my skype chat very similar to the chat he was having with the trusted member so it made it appear that the trusted members pm was sent for me.

 

Yea this is a new scam going around, someone tried to imposter me with it a few days ago.

I lost 4b to that scam 1 year ago exactly minus a few days.

 

Yep they are really clever these days i fell for it once lost around 200m

Always got to check the PM for the Skype chats to be the exact same as what you have. Should've known when you were getting added by impostors that something was up.

 

Best to not only include some of the skype chat but also your skype ID and also what the trade is about in the PM also. It's just upping the standards and being meticulous to avoid these delinquents.

Glad you posted this, the community needs to be aware of this. They commonly do this with MM too, so the MM should know this and try to match skype IDs as well

 

This is not new. Not at all. I spent 6+ hours dogging into a similar case like 3 years ago.

Always cross check twice if you're Skyping the real person or an impersonator. Better luck on your future trades.

 

happens alot also on other forums been scammed for 400$
