    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

A few minutes ago I was just sleeping. I dreamed about being in the backseat of a car on a bumpy road and it was pitch black. I have no idea who was driving and 2 familiar faces were laughing and taking pictures of each other.

I was thinking "Oh hell no". I'm not sure if it was because of the dream me being scared or real me thinking how this dream will play out (sorta like expecting a horror movie playing out). I woke up straight away and was in my room...sorta. I couldn't move whatsoever and I was hearing screams and something came from under my bed and put their head against mine. Then all I could see was a monster hand slowly going back down and the screams stopped. This was only for a few seconds then I was fully awake and able to move.

Its 2 in the morning and I'm now just on my phone and watching tv

Post similar stories if you have them. This would be the first time something like this happened to me.

    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

I remember when I was younger, like 8 or 9 I'd have a recurring dream where I was standing in my bathroom, and across the hall my closet would open and something that I was terrified of (Chucky, a burglar or something similar) would walk out and start walking towards me. I couldn't say anything, couldn't move, and then right as they got to me I'd wake up. Was freaky as fuck.

    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

I'm going to be honest, I was prepared to shoot down this ridiculous question with something about overdramatization and nocebo effects, but your description made me remembers my own similar experience. So I would say, from how I remember the feeling, yes. It sounds like sleep paralysis.

I was in a long hall with a weight pressing on me through a mirror in front of me, something evil and menacing, and something that I felt had just realized I was there after years of living in the house I was in. I woke up to my body turned towards the mirrored doors on my closet. The room was lit with bright moonlight but the mirror was pitch black and someone was screaming and I couldn't move for what felt like an hour, but was really seconds. I was frozen, couldn't turn away or blink or scream, like there was still that weight pressing on me. It was an awful feeling, and I'm emotionally recounting the occurrence. I had forgot it happened

This is without a doubt sleep paralysis.

Surprised you took it so well, this is a classic definition to it though.

They usually last longer then a few seconds though.

Loving this thread, keep the stories coming sorry I got nothing from this end.

    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

Not being able to do anything is an awful feeling. When whatever it was touched me I tried to scream I think but nothing happened. I was like a statue

Yes! I felt something pressing on me or my body feeling heavier than usual.
I cant explain that something but I knew it had a head

During was the scariest. After the fact I made sure I can move by wiggling my fingers. I just stayed lying down thinking if I was just dreaming I woke up from a dream. I made sure I was alone and I was still hearing the screams (like when you hear a loud noise and it still rings in your head even after the fact)

    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

I don't have anything going to add in terms of personal experiences, but judging from what I've just read, I'd have to say that I should be counting my blessings. I've only ever experienced something even remotely this terrifying off of a Salvia trip.

Pretty intense stuff in here... Would be interested in reading more stories though if anyone else has them.

    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

    Yeah... That's terrifying.

Afterwards were you shaking? Did it all seem real?

I just can't wrap my head around it, doesn't seem possible but it's a real thing.

I would have some serious anxiety from that man. LOL

    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

My experience of it doesn't sound as bad as some of these others. I was experimenting with lucid dreaming (see here www.sythe.org/miscellaneous-guides/1552315-how-lucid-dream-tonight.html) and I believe that had something to do with triggering it. After quite some time trying to control my dream (in reality I probably wasn't doing much) I fell asleep, and sometime after I was paralysed for maybe ten seconds. I didn't think much of it afterwards - it had some correlation with a dream I had at the time - but after looking it up a few days later I realised it was sleep paralysis.

    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

I got it a lot when I was younger. I still get night terrors (related to my PTSD) but I don't get the paralysis any more. It's common in people who are sleep deprived or have an irregular sleeping routine. The paralysis for myself disappeared when I started taking antidepressants. You can get prescribed those if it becomes regular or particularly bad. Also, an adult needs around 8 hours sleep a night. Try making sure your sleeping environment isn't too hot, too cold or too light. Make sure you're burning your energy during the day and cut down on caffeine and nicotine if you have a high intake of these.

What I can remember of the paralysis dreams was that I'd be walking along a street in the dark and I'd hear footsteps behind me, and this hooded.. mass would follow me no matter what I did. Then everything would go black and I'd hear screaming coming from what felt like directly behind my head and I'd just be shaking, weak and unable to move for whatever amount of time. I was only about 14 when that started, it was pretty intense and I used to be terrified to go to sleep.

    Did I experience sleep paralysis?

I had a very messed up childhood when it came to dreams and sleeping. I had a reoccurring night terror when I would "wake up" get out of bed and go to my parents bedroom to tell them I couldn't sleep. They would be there but their faces would be melting and they'd be talking a slow confusing version of english to the point where their words didn't sound like words. I cannot remember how the dream ever ended but I usually threw up after that due to my confusion and how real it was. Note it wasn't like I remained in my bed my parents would see me freaking out as they tried to talk to me to calm me down it made it worse. I also had sleep paralysis a few times. I was very little when this happened but essentially I would wake up from whatever scary dream I would be having and I would try and scream for my mom, the scream didn't work and a white figure would come through my door, come right up to my face and then vanish. It was scary as a kid, I haven't had that dream in forever.

Nah I wasn't shaking. I cant really explain how real it felt. Best I can say is the way its been already described. Youre awake but at the same time you're not. It feels pretty real but also sorta dreamy. Most of the things I felt are kind of hazy to remember now.

I think you can even attempt to purposely have one (though it may not work easily) if you are daring.

I actually have this image i never used for lucid dreaming if youre interested. Dont know how good it is. Anyone who knows what theyre talking about could look over it

It was probably because of my sleeping schedule. I go to sleep at like 12-3am. Wake up around 5-6am. Have like 3-4hour nap at 3-4pm and repeat.

Crazy stuff entrr and roary. Having it once is enough for me
