    Taste blood while running.

So does anyone know why I taste blood when I run? It's rather annoying and I'd like to find out the actual scientific reasoning behind it because I couldn't find anything on google, everyone says different stuff on there, who knows what's true.

It's something to do with the build up of lactic acid in your body, and also because you are becoming dehydrated. Try and take in more fluids as you run.

It seems to go away the more you run and the fitter you become.

can't keep hydrated, I go out and run on the road, not a treadmill =p. Also for some reason my legs above my knees itch like a mofo when I jog too, you know what causes that?

Bring little bottles of water and stick them in your pocket? Just to keep your mouth from drying, not necessarily to quench your thirst.

Happens to a lot of runners, not really a big deal, usually due to the influx of blood into your lungs, are you a heavy runner? Or a novice? Either way, keeping hydrated may help, but running more often will also help. Just a reaction to not having enough water. Irritated throat, happens to me all the time, Only when running long distances though (5+ miles)

I'm a lifter, just started jogging recently and it happens every time. There are different theories such as blood vessels bursting in your mouth, breathing the outside air into your mouth in heavy doses instead of breathing in through your nose, something about lungs, really not sure what the actual answer is though =p

Well from my experience in College Physiology and Anatomy, I'd say the irritated mucus sarcolema or maybe the lining of the lungs becoming in need of oxygen, your body then taking in more air (drys the mouth) resulting in a coppier taste also described as blood because their is less mucus to cover the actual tiusse :p Regradless just bring some water and run more! Nothing to be worried about unless you see or cough up blood. The itching knees is probably due to your body reacting to the running, take some benadryl (capsule) about a half hour before running, it's a anti-hystameine, meaning it will cause a reduction in sensory feedback(itching :p )

Could be from Copper deficiency, do you take Zma? if you take too much zinc it can cause Copper Deficiency, i had a similar thing where i constantly tasted metal/blood and i had some tests done and found i was deficient in copper.

Seriously, consult your PA or doctor... My buddy had the same problem. It has to deal with your lungs/ heart. Your hydration is key to all fitness. Should be drinking 1 quart every 3-5 hours.
