Things you thought about Sythe.org when you first joined.

When ever I saw a Runescape section moderator rank, I thought they go that rank by being an actual moderator on Runescape.

 

At first I thought this would be a community full of pricks, because they are all trying to make money, and a lot of scamming happened.
Worst mistake ever, cause Sythe is a lovely community with lots of nice people, but that were just my thoughts about a blackmarket.

 

Embarrassingly, I was actually the same back when I was active like 4 years ago. Personally, and being very young, I saw Sythe as a kind of wonderland where you could buy membership for 750k, or look at all of these amazing files.

I don't think I enjoyed the community as much though, as someone or other gave me an unwarranted perm-ban for self vouching which I could not seem to dispute even though I got the person to re-vouch for me on MSN.

I think the staff now a days is absolutely wonderful.

 

Lmfao, I got a PM from a friend today on RS who also is a member on Sythe here (I won't mention any names ), and he just had the lightbulb go on for him today that an RS Sectional Mod is a mod on Sythe, NOT in RS. Because of Laptop's promotion, it came to his attention and he figured out that the Runescape Mod rank did not mean Player Mod rank ingame. Needless to say, I laughed pretty hard :laugh:

As for me, when I first joined I really didn't know anything about Sythe at all, nor did I care. My initial impression was that Sythe was simply just a blackmarket/trading website, not really a community. I just wanted to sell a few gamecards and get some RSGP and so thats precisely what I did. After a few sales though, I began chatting with people over MSN who were from Sythe, as well as browsing other sections on this site other than the market. By that point, I got totally hooked on posting and chatting with people here, and have never looked back since then

 

I thought this was different type of ebay.

 

i expected it to be exactly like it is. Many people looking out to scam but they are obvious to tell apart from the legit users.

I came here at first to get a GOW 3 beta code, and I figured I might buy some RSGP and then never get on again. Then one day I stumbled upon the IRC and I have been hooked ever since I love it here and I love that the community is strong enough to make some genuine friends. Not many online communities can rep that!

 

Back in 2007 my friend told me about this site and how he used to get links to download bots (notably Scar) off here. I was too paranoid to ever join because I thought it was a community centered to hacking and scamming. I was even scared to access the site so I never did. Wish I had joined back then because I could have made lots of profit buying/selling accounts/gold in the Runescape marketplace.

 

well when i first joined i kinda expected what i got
i wanted to sell rs gold legitly and i figured its probably like other sites where you need like 1k rep to actually have people buy from you and thats what i got (1k was an exageration)

 

didn't like it too much when i started
some guy scammed for me 900k like 2 weeks in maybe haha

also i thought "damn people on sythe have really nice rs accounts"

 

My thoughts exactly. I has just lost everything the month before I joined back in '05.

As I am new.. I'll say what I think now.
The site has a lot of people who think they are better then the rest, but a lot of cool people too. Staff seem pretty chill, and not so uptight.

Better community than the runescape community by far. Was expecting a forum full of assholes, but so far the community has been awesome

 

I'm just loving the amount of traffic this site gets compared to other sites.

 

Well when I first joined, I just thought the whole point of the site was to trade things and make money.. But after being a part of Sythe for a while, I know how nice the people here are, how big the community is, and realised there more then just making money

 

When I first joined Sythe on my original account about seven years ago, they were in competition with RSTrades. This used to be labeled as the scamming central, but low and behold RSTrades' URL got overran by Jagex while Sythe stuck through I used to think Sythe owned Sythe-Fagex.net but that wasn't the case either.
