What do you think of this build?

After much contemplation i've decided to build a brand new intel based PC instead of upgrading my current PC.

What i've looked into getting so far:

    Motherboard: MSI Z97-Gaming 5 ATX
    CPU: Intel i7- 4790k
    Ram: HyperX 8gb 1600MHZ DDR3 2X4
    GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970
SSD: Crucial M500 Series 240GB SSD
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard Drive - 7200RPM
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1
PSU: Corsair CX 750W Modular Series

    Heres my current build:

    Motherboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
    Processor: AMD FX 6300
    Ram: 16GB (4x4) PC3-10700 1333mhz
    GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5
HDD: Western Digital 500GB 7200 RPM
    SSD: Crucial M4 128GB
    Case: CM Storm Enforcer
    PSU: Corsair CX 600w modular

Let me know if you think i could salvage ANYTHING to save some $.

Anything you guys would swap out? Current build is about $1250 without shipping. Current Budget is.... Anything i want to spend quite honestly. Was looking to spend less than $1500.

edit: have a question, between the msi z97 gaming 5 and this asus z97: http://www.microcenter.com/product/435514/Z97-P_LGA_1150_ATX_Intel_Motherboard which is better? Or are they the same? Asus version is $40 cheaper.

Could save to of the 1333 4gb sticks and put them in it for a total of 16gb memory. It would run at the slower of the two speeds. Wouldn't make much of a difference. Other than that it seems like a strong build.

What do you think of this build?

That sounds good. Could save about $80 in ram

edit: think i can just re-use the 600w or should i just upgrade to the 750? Dont think anything i'm buying is really power hungry.

Now looking, Think i can salvage the ssd and hdd and just reformat? save even more $.

Haha guess we're deciding to go all out after all, I see.
While your current build is not a bad build, the one you have outlined is a very good build. Again, the i7's are good for nothing but bragging rights if youre just gaming. If you're going to use the thing, then it's worth looking into. Otherwise, I'd step down to an i5. If you're going to spend that much on a 4790k, then you shouldn't be looking into a 4790k...you should be looking into a x99 build for not much more.

your 600w power supply will suffice just fine. I would keep that as you have it. the extra 150w will never come in handy at any point on that build.

I'm not a fan of the cooler master cases, You should look into the corsair cases. Cable management is brilliant, cases look really nice, and they have fantastic airflow. I'm a huge fan of the obsidian series, and the carbides are great too. They are a bit more pricy though, but they're "Keeper" cases.

What do you think of this build?

You theoretically could use the 600W assuming your 12V rails are still good on it.

You can use the same [old] case as well if you choose, along with the SSD - but I would [personally] change/upgrade the HDD - a new 1TB or even 2TB is <$100 USD and will allow for a little more room to play [install games/programs & save music/videos].

The other option is keep the old SSD and format it - buy the new SSD and put your OS/Programs on the NEW SSD... Use the old SSD for games. That's what I do at least.

I don't see an aftermarket cooler in this build - do you have one? If not, I would suggest it for the CPU. An air cooler is relatively cheap and does wonders for your CPU.

To answer this question: "... the msi z97 gaming 5 and this asus z97"
The MSI is a far superior board. It provides you with 6 Sata 6 slots where as the Asus only provides 4. Again, this is about getting more. 3 PCI-3.0 Lanes vs the 1 that the Asus provides (so you can get a second 970 later, possibly).

if you are purchasing that motherboard from Micro Center - watch the MSI for an open box. I'm looking right now (at one) and the Open Box is 127.96, complete. You can THEN apply the rebate that is currently going on with the MSI as well. The price is then 117.96... The Asus Z97 board is 119.99. Just saying. :)

    Which i5 would you suggest?
Also anything you recommend I should keep?

Yea I have a hyper 212 that I'm going to keep. Anything else you'd suggest I use from my old build?
I think im going to keep my SSD and buy a new HDD like you suggested or maybe buy a 500GB SSD and use that for everything!?!?? And thanks for then MSI info!!
