Sydney Cafe Hostage Situation

Well, that's not something that happens every day. Shit like this seems to be becoming the norm with those nutcases in the middle East.

 

Crazy. Always curious to know if media coverage is just getting better, or if all these mal-doings are becoming more common.

 

I've seen a few streams of it via news channels and it looks crazy. I hope everybody there is okay and it can be resolved peacefully, even if that isn't likely.

Did they find out any demands so far, or any reasoning as to why it's happening? Can't help but think with the black flag flying it is something related to the ISIS crap.

So far no demands and obviously no shots as well. Hostages are in my thoughts.

 

To update on that: 5 hostages have escaped/fled, there is contact with gunman (potentially men, police haven't released any numbers), and RT reported that hostage-taker(s) have suicide belts and have demanded a radio conversation with Abbot (the PM.)

Currently reading through the BBC feed, this is mad. Glad 5 got out, but wonder how many are left inside?

Demands were in fact made. They're not being disclosed to the public due to the severe nature of the demands, but it has been reported that the requests made are so terrifying that it has been suppressed

The live coverage here in Australia reported that the demands had created overwhelming anxiety within the cafe, and were beyond the capabilities of the hostages. One known demand included the delivery of an IS flag in exchange for a hostage.

It is now known that the gunman is a rogue (lone wolf) and is not known to the Muslim community.

 

What? A hostage in exchange for an IS flag? Must be some mentally retarded militant ._.

UPDATE: The identity of the militant has been REVEALED.

Iranian Cleric with a string of violent offences including 40 sexual abuse charges & sending offensive and threatening letters to the families of deceased soldiers. Currently on bail for being the accessory to the murder of his ex-wife.
