How goodly can you speak english?

    Quiz is over!

After carefully looking at each of your scores, I realized I needed to double check that my marking is correct. This is why many of you have jumped up a grade or fallen down a grade.

    Congratulations to rsaccounttrader and gflittlenoob
for being joined winners with the score 9/10! (A-)

    Answers:

    1. Is
      Neither by itself is singular

      [*]Was
      Every is singular.
      "Every was" is correct
      "Every were" is not

      [*]Is
Measles is a singular noun. Therefore, it needs a singular verb (is).

      [*]Is

When using "neither...nor" the verb modifies the noun closest to it. So in this case, the beautiful teller "is" not "was".

      [*]Seem
"media" is plural. Therefore, it needs "seem" not "seems"
      Example:
      The boy seem(s) to know.
      The boy(s) seem to know.

      [*]Was
A set was, not a set were. ( Set is singular )

      [*]Incorrect
Run on sentence. If in the quiz, you answered "incorrect" but you couldn't justify your answer properly, I still gave you the credit.

      [*]Correct

Every sentece needs a subject and verb, otherwise it's a sentence fragment.
      Lovers' (subject)
kiss (verb) kiss can be used as a verb. (they're kissing)

      [*]Whom
Whom is used when it's the object of the sentence.

      [*]Whom
      ^ same as above.

How goodly can you speak english?

Well, I was taught under the impression that if you can use "whom" then using "who" would suffice also. Might be wrong or just for certain situations.

Dang, In the book it's "Lovers' kiss" I just mistyped it :/. Anyway, you're right, "Lovers kiss." is incorrect, but I'm going to change the test slightly so it says "Lovers' kiss"

'Traffic jam' and 'nevertheless' should be separated by either a colon or full stop.

Lovers kiss. (Correct/incorrect? If incorrect, explain why)
This would depend entirely on the context. If it was a statement about kissing lovers, then it would be correct. However, if 'lovers kiss' is actually a noun, then it should have an apostrophe at the end of 'lovers'. Then again, if the love wasn't mutual then it'd be a singular posessive... creepy.

    WHO

    (Who/Whom) were you talking to?
    WHO

Edit; wow my score sucks. Considering I got two A grades in English, that's disappointing >.>
