How do you Guys not get charged back from paypal?

Can someone please explain how to saftley use paypal when selling my gold to people?
i remember when people asked for ID when they got a paypal payment but i wasnt sure what would that do with them still charging back the payment on you.

We simply dont accept PayPal or only accept it under strict conditions. For example only from highly trusted users, only for a low amount of money or when the other party provides enough proof (ID + note) to make sure you will win a chargeback.

 

So if they provide id with a note you can use that for a chargeback..? seems weird

 

I ment it as in, you can proof to PayPal that you traded with the customer and that the customer didnt get 'hacked' if he claims that. So you as the seller can use the ID + note in a chargeback against you to win the chargeback.

 

Pretty much this. I usually only accept it from staff/highly trusted users, depending on what I'm trading for. ID/Photo proof can help to a certain extent in the case of a chargeback but it's usually not worth the risk. Using other methods such as cryptocurrencies and then selling them to a trusted user is usually the preferred option.

 

Only sell to EXTREMELY trusted people via paypal and you should be safe.

 

Really the only way I've been able to avoid it is to sell to trustable users. Notes / TOS / etc. really only have served to put my mind at ease.

 

What Paypal cares about is whether the owner of the account was in control of the account during the time the transaction was made, and you need to prove that beyond reasonable doubt. Notes/ToS don't do anything, contrary to popular belief. @OblivionRage also told me that he's lost chargebacks even when he's supplied ID proof, and I've lost chargebacks even with the IP address/location of the scammer. What I've been doing to fight chargebacks is sending an email to the address associated with the Paypal account asking them to confirm their identity and that they've authorized the transaction and sent the correct amount of money. If possible, waiting a day before delivering the goods might also help, because a high value transaction will normally trigger alerts if someone's account was actually hacked.

So far, this strategy appears to work.


This was a credit card/bank chargeback, which are notoriously difficult to win (compared to "unauthorized claims" which are already quite difficult to win in the first place)

 

Few months ago i sold gold to someone on craigslist via Interact E transfer,
I guess he called to his bank that his Credit card was stolen and he did not make those transactions. well 5 days later i got a call saying i owe 370$ from my bank i had to send in all the text/email messages from me and this guy talking. (this was 6 months ago now )
I went to the bank a few days ago to get a new bank card and i asked why is this 370 still on hold in my account im getting tired of looking at it. The bank teller looks at me and says "Happy early xmas The fraud dep didn't reach back to us so it looks like you get to keep the money! i was so freaking happy.

No better feeling winning a dispute.

 

Have had a few issues with this in the past. I honestly just keep to BTC now or pp with low ammounts.

 

Can they chargeback btc??
