How do you distract yourself while being tattooed?

I'm not full body tatted but i'm getting my 3rd one next week.
First one on chest: barely felt, i was completely numb on smack and pot (rough days)
Second one: got my first professional ink under my bicept by my new homie and artist and although i was high on pot it wore off and pain just kinda got sensitive at some point ( all the artists said the bicept was one of the most sensitive spots)
Now i look to get a scripture/scroll coming down (UNDER) from where my arm connects to elbow probably stopping somehere near 3 inches left where i can add anything i want to my wrist area. Now although people say theres not much pain here i just run my finger though it with my fingernail and i feel like its a sensitive spot, i dont have the BEEFiest arm but either way! im not really worried im not a bitch just looking for some opinions: Do yall chew gum, distract yourself on your phone, listen to music, intoxicate yourself and let the artist do the job? HAHA Now that i will be sitting up i plan on just smoking some weed before i come in and bringing some headphones and just scrolling though all my social medias, just chit chatting with my artist probably .

 

Haven't gotten a tattoo; however, the people who I have talked to about this basically agree on using their phone. Whether it be random stuff, music, instagram, etc., something to do with your phone

 

Never had or will have a tattoo but I would guess that starting a conversation with the tattoo guy would probably kill time, works for a barber can't see why it won't work for a tattoo.

 

I meditate.

And I have a tattoo on every part of my body but my neck, feet, and thighs.

Chest doesn't hurt much until you get around the nipple and along the collarbone.

I have a sleeve and the only parts you'll feel much pain during this session for the scroll will be on the inside of your elbow, the elbow, and the sides of your wrist where your bone juts out a bit.

Surprisingly my finger hurt worse than even my stomach and ribs.

 

hey man preciate that advice! and what part of the finger was it btw? the sides? i would imagine that would hurt some since its boney. But either way i look at it as a experience, work of art and well sometimes a stress remover.. i feel like im in my own world and some people really dont understand or can accept the nature of getting inked

 

I've never gotten one, but going in when you're very tired or high with some music where you just space out would probably pass the time very quickly. Maybe get netflix on your phone so you could watch a movie or show.

I haven't gotten a tattoo, but I'd imagine I'll have a conversation just like how I do at a barbershop.

 

Close your eyes and imagine a magic rainbow swirl in every bite .

Why make it painful when something creative can decoy your time.

Have someone hot stimulate you (a girlfriend or something), that works wonders too.

I was on tumblr during my entire tattoo process, all 4 hours. I was having my leg worked on though so laughing at shitposts weren't dangerous to the process. I don't recommend it if you're getting work done on your torso.

 

bring your headphones with you or a friend to talk to

 

just got back from the shop! went sooo smoothly, except for the fact my phone died 20 minutes into sesh. i just took deep breaths thoughout the process and it helped more than anything. Even saw a chick get her mans tat on her ass! that made me chuckle

I have a half sleeve and a full sleeve incomplete.

The inside of the arm is pretty sensitive, and the closer you get to the elbow, the better it gets... <(lol)
i have a pretty high threshold for pain though, So i generally just sit there or talk, i like to watch as well.
just dont Syke yourself out, and itll be just fine.

 

I like to look at it while i get tatted, ive received one on my bicep, idk why i just look at it and it usually isin't bad for me, also when i would get shots in my arms and stuff haha

 

i usually just watch as they do it. somehow it relaxes me. or have a friend or someone there. or browse facebook
