Runescape Gold market.
ive seen quite a bit of goldsellers that offer services with paypal, such as arcus. He sells using paypal and im wondering how. He will sell to anyone, even a newcomer and has no worry about it so obviously he is somehow preventing chargebacks because if not he would be losing tons of money.

also how does playerauctions accept the option for people to use paypal to buy rsgp from someone and not let them chargeback. Id imagine its the same as someone buying rsgp from me,and paying me directly to my paypal, and then charging back.

the question is,how do they do it. there has to be a way..

Just use the note "I got my virtual item, and I wont chargeback".
Then they can't do anything in a dispute.

There's no way to stop them if you've already entered into a trade with someone who knows what they are doing. The only thing you can do is prevent yourself from trading those risky people.

The risk of chargebacks is always there.

The only reason why they still offer paypal is that majority of the people uses paypal. I believe they have experienced some charge-back scams and may have more than 1 paypal account for that purpose.

I think this would be more appropriate in the Market Discussion section, so I moved it for you :)

Chargebacks are so incredibly frustrating that you're better off selling/buying from a trusted user for a somewhat bad price. There's no way to prevent it, especially since the reason for most chargebacks is that the payment was "unauthorized". The only way to win this type of case is if the buyer was dumb enough not to use a proxy server (or whatever it is that changes your IP address). You can make the buyer provide you with proof, such as screenshots, emails, notes, etc., but this usually does nothing help you win a chargeback case. If someone figures out how to prevent this crap, please let me know lol.

Limit the amount you are selling to new/suspicious players, usually they won't waste their time charging back 10-20 bucks. And if they do, well, you don't really lose that much.

Just got my first chargeback issue myself of about $32 even though the guy I was trading with didn't fit the description of the typical scammer.

I'm thinking of switching over to moneybookers, I heard its harder to chargeback on there? Anyone know how much safer it is?

Untrue - notes don't affect chargeback success

OP: I think he realizes that he will occasionally get charged back but, on average, will still make money even past those chargebacks. Also, I doubt he would sell bills to a newcomer for paypal - smaller amounts are more understandable.

may have more than 1 paypal account for that purpose.

Money can still be charged back regardless of how many accounts is has been run through.

Have you tried asking Arcus himself? Perhaps he could offer some insight.

That $32 chargeback I mentioned actually went in my favor despite it being unauthorized :). I showed them a picture of the person's ID that they sent me and screenshots of completing the gold sale. That, and I called up paypal and told them to run the IPs of the buyer.

I'm not sure which of my actions won the case but it goes to show you that these chargebacks aren't impossible to win.

By telling the buyer to send by gift or using a 3rd party payment processor such as 2Checkout.
