    Random anger/depression

For as long as I can remember, I have been having these random 'waves' of anger and/or depression. At school, I'm relatively happy and regularly laugh and joke about things. However, when it comes to being at home it's a whole different story.

Every now and then I will randomly feel extremely angry or annoyed and be a complete douche to anyone who tries to talk to me for that period of time. Other times it will be more of a depressed feeling, rather than angry. I'll just feel really sad and down, and not want to do anything but just sit there, close my eyes and think.

Is this something I should take up with my local doctor/GP? I've never really spoken to anyone about this kind of thing before so i'm not really sure what to do about it. Is there some kind of drug that can be prescribed to help get over this kind of thing?

    Thanks.

    EDIT:

Try talking to a school councillor, if you have them. Those are the people that deal with problems like anger and problems. I would talk to a councillor first to see what they say. You might suffer from deppression which means you should try the doctor and they will tell you what you can do.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I should probably add my older brother fights with my mum all the time and he gets really angry very easily. He's soon to be kicked out of the house as far as I can see and to be honest I don't want to end up like him. He did have a few anger management 'lessons' with the school councillor but it didn't seem to do him much good. Maybe that's because he only went 2-3 times..

I will see if I can arrange to talk to him at some point, I really don't want to go on like this to be honest, I just want to feel.. I don't know, normal? I wonder if this is a genetics thing, or maybe just a co-incidence.

I'll add this to the original post as I guess it contains some information and background.

Does anyone in your family suffer from bipolar disorder? That's what it sounds like to me. But let's not jump to conclusions.

Absolutely go to your local doctor for an evaluation, it can't hurt. Also remember that you're a teenager and this is probably completely normal (I can relate on some levels). You have swinging hormone levels as a teen, and different "sensors" can erupt at any given moment making you excessively happy, sad, or angry.

Holy shit, that reminds me of a few things.

Firstly, my mum is currently taking meds to help with depression as she is currently a single mum with 3 kids (Dad left recently) and is under a lot of stress. I don't even know how this slipped my mind.

Also, I did think I had Bipolar at one point, I will speak to my mum tomorrow about it and see if we can make some kind of appointment.

Thank you very much for your advice, any more is welcome.

Yes it sounds like bi-polar very much.
Those events of anger and aggression are called manic episodes. Would be wise to speak to a doctor ab out getting evaluated just in case.

I was diagnosed as Bi-polar 1. The meds they give you are very strong and sedating, they are pretty much mood stabilizers to prevent those manic episodes from happening.

I went throw this same thing, I seen and talked to a few people all advised me to move out, ever since I did, I havn't been more happy, Yer I have more responsability but I feel so much happyer "I Feel Free".

If you can't move out for some reason, Look at dong somthing "Spend as much time away from home" I am not advising you to stay away from family but Limit the time see how you feel ;)
