Put in your windows key.

 

Two most likely causes:

1. You're using a pirated copy of Windows

2. You have a virus that's blocking activation.

If it's #1... go out and buy a real copy. If it's #2, you may need to reformat/reinstall Windows.

 

This is a screenshot from windows 10. I doubt it's either.

I heard somewhere that people who use the evaluation version of Windows 10 will get it for free. Just wait for the full release to see what happens. If it still prompts you to activate windows after that, then you'll have to activate it with a windows key.

 

If you were to need a real windows key, i'd suggest finding someone who can buy a student version, it's the same, just a lot cheaper.

 

If this is Win 10, there is a free version coming out end of July.

Im using a printed copy of windows, I want to know how to remove it from the files without putting in a windows key, also where could I find a legit windows key?

 

And why exactly did you see it okay to rip off the software developers? I'm sure you would be happy if you put a load of time, money and resources into something only for someone to crack it and go "you don't need my money!".

You need a legit key if you want things to work properly.

Seeing as it is Windows 8, you can get that off Amazon.

 

If its a pirated copy, you need a special program to make it genuine.

 

There's this one thing you can download that makes it go away temporarily. But it's not a perm fix tho. Just google "make windows not genuine go away" and you can find info and videos as well. I heard windows 10 Preview people get to upgrade to the full version at the end of the month so who knows,good luck though.
