how do I find out if I can rent a townhouse easy?

I overheard my parents saying that our neighbor in the townhouse is selling it and my parents are thinking of buying it so they can rent it out. The thing that I am scared is if we buy it we will have 2 mortgages for a 5 or less years on 2 homes and if we cant rent the other home we are screwed. I am also scared that if we rent it to people they can destroy the house over time and ruin it, or put holes in the dry wall. Also, HOW DO I FIND OUT IF IT IS ACTUALLY RENTABLE IN MY TOWN, what if i cant rent it?

What do you think we should do?
How do i find out if it can rent easy in my area?

Don't worry, renting is a great way to make money in this economy. Most people cannot afford to pay for a home, so a small house (or a townhouse) for rent is perfect for them. You also don't need to worry about them ruining it because I am sure you parents are smart enough to get deposits and paperwork signed that will make the tenants liable for any damages that may occur.
